Today went to watch some good colts rugby, yet while we try to promote our game it was disappointing to see one coach whose team was being well beaten leave 3 players on the bench, no game time at all and the 3 had no obvious injury etc. Yes every coach has the last say, but he could have given these boys a run even the last 10 minutes, his team had no chance of winning at this point. We need to keep boys interesred and keen, not getting splinters week after week. I have no conection with the club, just love rugby, and want to see it grow. I see it happen too much.

Had they just played a full game prior in the grade below? I don't think anyone keeps fresh reserves, only those backing up from the previous game (unless it was 3rd grade colts). The boys in question might have been thankful not to play 120 minutes of rugby and wreck their Saturday night out...

keep in mind if it was 3rd grade colts they are only allowed to make a maximum of 10 changes.

Monty Python it was 3rd grade colts, first game of the day and aware only 10 changes can be made, there were not and doubt they were even adked to be reserves for 2nd grade colts game. Anyway, hope they get a game next week whoever they play and they had a good night out when they finally got home.

Could you share who the team was?

G'day, Detective Chief Inspector Jarse here.

Looking at the clues:
A Colts 3 Team who was well beaten in Round 6.

Round 6 Scores where one team beat the other team "well" were:
Hobbits 33 Woodies 0
Manly 14 Randi-Wix 36
Emus 5 Pirates 29

The margins in the other 3 games were 3, 14, and 12. Hardly well beaten.

Focusing on the 3 possible losing teams.
MMM have forfeited 2 games so far this season. Presumably these forfeits were due to lack of numbers, so it is unlikely to be them who were well beaten but left 3 fresh players on the bench.

The Emus have been struggling for numbers, and this years Team Sheets indicate that a number of players have played both 3rds Colts and 2nds Colts each week. They only used 1 player from the bench last weekend for Colts 3's. Don't think it was them.

That leaves the Woodies. They were well beaten by the Hobbits.
Their Round 6 team sheets show that they used all 10 Reserve places available. What were they supposed to do? Breach the competition rules that allow 3rd Colts to make 10 substitutions, and play another 3 players from the bench (28 players in total) just to make sure that all their "players" got some game time.

Seems that the Woodies have done the right thing and got as much of their squad to take the field as is allowable under the rules.

Not sure what the problem is here. If they have too many players in their Colts programme, then sooner or later some may get jack of riding the pine and register with another club in the local proximity who may not have so many players in their programme. They may be fiercely loyal to the Blue and Whites and are prepared to ride the pine waiting for a Rehab crisis (or uni holidays) when they will be wanted to start. Their choice.

You are right, they are fiercely loyal to Eastwood and don't want to play anywhere else. Are they happy with their game time no, do they accept it yes. 1st lost, 3rds lost and 2nds had a narrow win, there could be opportunities for movement and for people to get their chance, I suggest they take it when they get it. I'm sure the coaches won't wait forever for form to arrive.

appalling scenes yesterday at manly oval with eastwood awarded a penalty on the buzzer, only for the kick to go through and not be awarded. ref had a long seemingly confused conversation with both touch judges before blowing his whistle for full time and an eastwood loss by 2 points

Well, there you go. This goes to show you can live to a ripe old age and still not have seen everything.
Did both ARs/touch judges raise their flags?
Surely there is more to be heard about this.

touch judges seemed to think it missed, while just about everyone else seemed to think the kick had gone through (kicker, waterboy, referee, parents behind the sticks)

Must have missed if both thought this. It is when it crosses the plane (plain?) of the goal line. Not from behind the line or from the sideline. Sad fact, but it isn't going to get changed now. Move on to next week. Nothing will come from it now, whichever way you feel.
