Won"t the Tahs be locked up in Super Rugby for finals time?

The players making the difference seem to be the Tahs EPS and Supplementary Squad. The teams most impacted there are The Corporation and Randi-Wix.

Yep, that was my point HJ -- the Super and SS finals series are on at the same time so whether the Tahs players become available to their clubs will depend on how far the Tahs go in the comp this year. If they don't make the Super playoffs then they could be available from the start of the SS playoffs.

Great weekend for the Wicks. Again we beat Uni in a super game of football.
After some mixed results of late, we seem to be back on track and are a real show of taking out the competition. I was one happy man when I left Coogee oval on Saturday. I went home via the Coogee Bay Hotel for a few celebratory bevvies!

There are some top clubs out there just getting their armies marshalled. Sure the Wicks have a chance however Eastwood will beat any club on a given day, Manly are just "getting the band back together", Souths have been consistently beating the top sides and have further upside with players coming into the side, Uni are Uni, then you have the "smokies" Norths, Easts, Warringah warming into it. Good luck to anyone that can pick the winner of this Comp. Wonder who the bookies favour?
Methinks Souths will be thereabouts.

Was out and about tonight and bumped in to a few of the English lads getting a feed. I asked them how they enjoyed training at the home of running rugby- Coogee Oval and they said they loved it. I suggested they come have a season in green before they retire!
Up the Wicks!

Been an occasional (non-test) Soap Dodger turn out for the Randi-Wix in the past. Probably lost backpackers:)

What was the name of the Long Fellow from a year or three ago? Couple of games in 1sts but mainly in 2's and 3's IIRC. As tall as a very tall thing, he was. Whatever happened to him?

Bookmakers have Uni as clear favourites to win the SS, next in line Souths then Randwick & Manly & Norths.
Norths seem to be relishing flying under the radar ATM.

Will Carrick Smith is the man being referred to - he played last season for London Scottish.

Going to go right down to wire this year
Woods Souths and Manly still have Emus and Highlanders to play and would hope for 10 points there and a boost to points for/against
Will Locke help or hinder Souths if he plays?
Uni at Easts, Wicks at Rebels, Marlins at Rats, Wicks at Woods all going to be crackers - even Uni at Pirates won't be a given 5 points

Signed for Bedford for next year, played for a lot of clubs in his career so far.

Pirates have been a bogie team for the Corporation in recent times.

IMHO the Hobbits are very well placed.

The potential impact of the Tahs missing finals will make the Corporation and Randi-Wix formidable opponents provided they don't get knocked out of the running early, although the old Champion Team vs Team of Champions must also be factored in to the equation.

Home ground advantage in the finals will be crucial .
A missed kick could cost a bonus point which , in this tightly packed table , could see a team drop a couple of places over the last four rounds.

^^^^^pretty sure SS & Super start finals the same weekend.
So all Uni & Wicks supporters will be death riding the Tahs, hoping they don't make finals/are eliminated early.
It's conceivable that the only game some Tahs players will play for their club all year will be the GF,which doesn't sit comfortably with me.

So how does the signing on former Kiwi league Test player, Kevin Locke, for the last few rounds for SD , sit?( report SMH p 37 , today)

At least he'll qualify by playing 4 games prior to semi's.
I just think it's outrageous that a side could literally field an entire team in a GF that have not played one game in the comp.
If that's ok,then why should anyone have to qualify?

Allen Oxlade (6)
If the rules suggest he is eligible then I'm ok with it - I don't agree that he should be , but that's the rules .
I think it's a stretch to suggest Uni or Randwick or anyone else could fill an entire team of players who haven't played a single game of SS.
I'm delighted this bloke has finally seen the light but influencing the SS so late Is a problem for me.
No problem with him coming back through the grades to play for the Rays but I don't think he should be eligible for finals.

Having rep players play is the strength of this competition. If they are registered for the last two seasons as I think the competition rules were I don't have a problem.

If you produce them or have supported them you should get to play them.

Expect in the case of - adopting HJ's parlance - the corporation, who having clawed their way back to respectability in terms of GAGR sentiment over the past 12 months as not so much most disliked club, have produced sweet Fanny Adams ;)
