Blackers13

Syd Malcolm (24)
And someone needs to capture the thoughts and memories of some of the legends of club rugby such as Jeffrey Leonard Sayle. Maybe the likes of Bill Pulver needs to spend some time with these guys (I'm sure every club has one, Dave) so that we don't forget what these guys learned many years ago.
I would nominate Eric Tweedale, oldest living Wallaby, founder of Parramatta Juniors, founder of Merrylands Rugby Club and Club Patron of the Two Blues. Still sharp as a tack and very erudite and eloquent.

Are the Eric Tweedale interviews still available on the M2B website @Blackers13?

I enjoyed watching them a year or two back when Thommo first published them.

Should be in a Rugby Time Capsule somewhere.

The challenges and the hurdles club rugby / sports have to encounter in this day and age.

Sport is an important part of life, it is part of the balance, it keeps people happy, frustrated, and healthy.

It also gives supporters enjoyment in retirement as they still come through the gates to watch their grand kids play, and they share their memories.

Too true, this is the same council which wants to charge community swimming clubs $900 PER WEEK lane hire (i.e. @$20,000 a season) to do what we have done for over a 100 years.

Thank heavens they've been sacked, although I notice that the former Mayor still has her snout in the trough as some sort of advisor to the administrator.

All the Round 12 deferred results are in so a valid and meaningful Club Champ table can be produced.

2016 Gregor George Cup (Club Championship) Watch:
(after Round 13)

There are a maximum of 215 points available to a club each week, based on all 7 club teams winning with a 4 try BP and the target to win is >3000 points which was achieved by 3 clubs in 2014 and the 2015 winner was on 2905 points. In 2014 the difference between 1st and 2nd was only 33 points, with 3rd only 52 points further back. In 2015 there was only 49 points between 1st and 2nd, with 3rd place 113 points further back.

Sydney University, 2224 points
Randwick, 2061 points
Eastern Suburbs, 1913 points
Eastwood, 1807 points
Southern Districts, 1797 points
Northern Suburbs, 1762 points
Warringah, 1683 points
Manly, 1557 points
Gordon, 1027 points
Parramatta, 823 points
West Harbour, 689 points
Penrith, 86 points

How the Club Championship table is calculated.
The competition points from the individual competitions are multiplied by the following factors and then added together.
First Grade - 15
Second Grade - 8
Third Grade - 5
Fourth Grade - 4
Colts 1 - 6
Colts 2 - 3
Colts 3 - 2

The 49 point difference between Gold and Silver in 2015 could have been made up from an extra 3 BP in Shute Shield and an extra BP in 4th Grade, or an extra victory with a BP in 2nd Grade and an extra BP in Colts 1 and Colts 2.

Prediction for a club championship ladder HJ?

Gordon haven't finished in single figures since 2010 I think it is so hopefully some improvement there.

Warringah don't get to play Penrith but Norths, Wests, Souths, Easts and Manly do.

Manly don't seem to have a big gun to come up against so should see some considerable improvement.

Suspect that the GG Cup is heading to Camperdown.

Hopefully. Today's round against Randwick is pivotal. The colts matches will be tough and have a major bearing on Colts Club Championships which Randwick pinched last year and Uni want it back!!

@AD . The only true competition is 2 complete rounds but it doesn't look like happening. Gordon have been big improvers particularly in colts which should translate into better Grade results over the next few years.

"Pinched" ? To win the Colts Club Championship, all 3 teams must play consistently well for all 18 rounds.

The 2015 Randi-Wix Colts had established an unassailable lead (>55 points) with a couple of rounds to go, and IIRC they were minor premiers in all 3 Colts grades. If there was any pinching in 2015, it was The Corporation who pinched all 3 Premierships from the Wix.

Not too many Tahs on display this weekend in clubland.

Any deferrals yet due to overnight rain and nervous councils?

Most non Wallaby Tahs are playing just a few with minor niggles missing
Although Uni seem to be missing a few - anything to do with Latu throwing a few punches the other day?
