Yep I hear this all the time.
"But you promised.."
"..Yes well son circumstances have changed a bit".

Unfortunately, this is a misconception fans of other clubs portray about Randwick.

He needs to get the facts......

If he looks at the Current Randwick Colts roster he'll recognise a player from Lennox Head and another from Port Macqaurie.
I'd say he knows them both.

He should talk to them about how Randwick treats its players and what opportunities they have had within the club.

Take a look at the names of the Sydney Clubs. who would you pick to play for ? :)

To fill you in a bit yes he does know those players . The director of Randwick came to Lennox to check out the boys and was happy to make some offers. My son will be going to Randwick next year to play colts. He know he must earn his strips ..If he starts in 3rd ..he starts in 3rds...With his passion he want be there long...The other players from Lennox are happy there and tread well..Even a Wicks 1st grade player that played for U20 Australia came from Lennox..

Another point i would like to make that you may or may not know is what it takes for a lad to make NSWCHS for the bush. In our case. 1st he must be selected for our region. The Northern rivers region 100s of Lads. Then he must be selected for the north coast team that's all public schools From Kempsey to Tweed heads 1000's of lads then he must play 12 teams from all of NSW public Schools to be selected from that pool to make NSWCHS. My son did that and i'm so very proud of the boy...Now the travel and cost $$$$ SHIT. Traveling 800 km each way to Sydney for about 6 time is hard work let me tell you and another thing due to our budget (we are just working class people) there was a few times we left home at 12 pm to arrive at 8 in the morning on the day he had to play..to save accom cost..but our love of rugby is great. so the beer budget get cut who care's he has a passion and he works hard for it. He's off to training with 1st grade tonight and I asked him how was he feel about not getting into the national comp as he said to me"them the brakes dad". i'm so proud of my young man and I am so blessed to have him what a great man i have made here. And we are still laughing at rolling up to THE GIFFORD oval at KNOX in our $1300 ford twin cab ute Me , My son his sister, the misses and our blue healer to find out the dog was not aloud on the grounds...."who's going to the ute to check on the dog"..Thanks Girls we ain't moving..What a great day of rugby..My son and I wish All the lads that played all the best in Rugby and for the lads that made Aust "go you good things"...Will see ya on another day...Thanks green and gold .

I will keep an eye out for "Gifford", I am sure he will do well. Cream always rises they keep saying here,

I have no doubt the CHS route is not easy, as described. But I can assure you the GPS route is not that easy either, and for the costs I will happily swap you.

But its a great thing to get selected in any representative team, and to play CHS Rugby is a very fine achievement in itself.

@oldboy 1950, It is good to read a positive story about a Schoolboy rep second rower.

There have recently been some fairly nasty and wholly inappropriate posts made about one particular second rower from National Champs. These have all been deleted by mods & the poster has been banned.

Imagine a parent, grandparent, relative or Teacher/Coach of the player having to read that sort of mean spirited rubbish about a child they love and care for. It is not a players fault that the Selectors see something in them that they don't see in others, or vice versa, but fair dinkum some people need to get a reality check based on they way they carry on on these threads. Most kids are playing rugby just for fun, with lots of hope but little expectation of catching the Selectors eye.

Parents, on the other hand ... ... ...

More often than not, harsh critics were never much good themselves. That's usually the way it goes.
and all players have the opportunity to work hard and improve their game; hit the gymn or do whatever it takes to strengthen them as rugby players.

and as you aptly pointed out .... enjoy it with their mates (as well as their new mates they made over the last couple of weeks)

Do you have to be at school to be part of this team ?
George Francis left school before the end of first term back in March.
Pretty sure you do in rugby

For those that are interesting in the results of the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League here is the link to the final results.

I would say, another example of things not quite 'going to plan'.
Ironically things tipped more to the Blues favour this time - rather than the Maroons....And I am referring to the selection Australian Schoolboys UNION selection process.

However I am sure a good time was had by all. Especially if you go to a CCC or CHS secondary school.

NSWCHS South Africa Tour April 2017

The NSWCHS touring team left our Aussie shores yesterday, to compete within the School Boy Rugby Easter Festival being held on the 13th, 15th and 17th of April at St Johns college in Johannesburg.

The boys selected for the NSWCHS Touring team played for NSW CHS1 & NSW CHS2 teams in last years NSW Schools comp 2016. Most of the players selected from NSW CHS2 due to majority of CHS1 boys having now left school. The captain for NSWCHS 1st XV in 2016 Harry Turner, selected as Captain for the NSW CHS touring team.

St Johns Rugby Easter festival is equivalent to that of the Australian School boy trials, attracting 10,000 -20,000 spectators with worldwide live streaming of all games.
This is the first time in Australian Combined High School history that NSWCHS has been invited to participate within the St Johns college Rugby Festival, making this a truly honourable experience for the boys.

For live stream links please see below:

A couple of the lads on that list are now with different rugby league programs and not eligible for these squads.
I know a couple of others who may or may not have made it who are injured.
