Sanction line for a Goal Line drop out is the 5 metre line. Shown in the picture accompanying Law 12.

Don't let anyone tell you that - the population of the Central West has been growing every year since at least 2006, and this applies also to the 20-34 yr olds which has also grown as a group. It's leading to ridiculous house prices & no rentals in those same markets. Your comment about...

I wonder whether league participation numbers at an adult level could possibly have something to do with the money instead? Subbies participation seems to have gone downhill since that little caveat was introduced. And League does it at least in country rugby - look at Group 10 (picking this...

Considering we've been told for years that the finals gate takings are an important source of income for Subbies and that this is why only fields with a suitable fence are considered to host, the decision can't have been an easy one to make.

Keep it positive there Alan Jones! Maybe instead rename as The Potential for Best New Fence - this way clubs without a fence can compete, not just clubs whose fence is not optimal.

Ok, so from someone that wasn't just an interested observer: The call was rough (First time I've seen it called this season, let alone in the game with 6 seconds left) but we shouldn't have let them get back to that close to us in the first place. Whether it was right or not I don't know as I...

I agree on this one. I don't think the status quo is working, but I also don't believe that prohibition would work as a way to improve a situation. Maybe make it so clubs could increase the number of Education Grants (+ max value) that can be given to colts players, maybe make it that this...

And like to hang around and have a drink afterwards as well. I disagree with you on this Pfitzy - punishing the players at clubs that do get 4th (5/6/7th) grade players is not the way to grow the sport. In our case (which is the only one I can talk of), most of these boys are either long time...

Let's play devils advocate then, could re-allowing player payments/subsidies help re-attract kids from league/afl/soccer (i.e. all the non-amateur sports that are actually doing better than Rugby)? If we are going to look at their structure, lets look at their entire structure.

Ok, well I'll bite just to show how far off you are (aaand I haven't posted in a while). Our 1st Grade win on the weekend used 17 players - 15 who played in Rd 1 or 2. (13 1st Grade, 1 who started in Seconds against Forest last time and the other played in Thirds). Of the final two players...

Sorry to disappoint but tomorrow is our Back to Boronia Day rather than Ladies Day. The sideline view is expected to be substantially different.

Kids are relevant to footy, games where you've had no sleep the night before without alcoholic inducement, waking up at 5.30am on game day, not wanting to train more than once a week to spend time with them, having a legitimate dad bod, running after the toddler all morning while they constantly...

Or indeed run the club, of our playing committee members this year, over half haven't started 1st grade this year.

I would say it only appears unhealthy due to the troubles other clubs have of attracting players. Trying to force these extras to play elsewhere would only result in the majority of them leaving the game, so you can't attack the clubs themselves for actually providing the teams for these gents...

No, it was something that the ref and both touchies missed last year - admittedly play had moved on near the try line so they had a reasonable excuse. Understand that you weren't talking about the extremes, I was more trying to point out that the restrictions on rough play has made it more...
