Look at the halftime:
FOR - 7 BIL - 20

RED - 12 BIL - 21

The reds were clearly better than the force. FH was super competitive.

I don’t like comparing the second half with the difference in subs being hardly playing for Super Rugby to great national players.

Is this the first tour where the lions are not playing current wallabies in the tour matches? Realistically no one in that's reds side will start for the wallabies first test.

Clearly better? They conceded more points in the first half. I don't think clearly better is a fair call. It was much if the same against a weaker lions team

1 point, and the first lions try wasn’t exactly amazing. Also two tries to the reds. I’m also NSW so no skin in that game.

Reds also had more wallabies missing.

The force were stuck on the lions try line a fair bit after their first try. They should have scored. I think effort wise it's very similar and much of the same. But I am a force supporter so I accept I am bias ;)

I could be wrong about that lions team but for me not even half will be in the first test match

“The Reds were clearly better than the Force”…. Disagree. Both outclassed by a better team. The Reds were expected to put up a better match. I thought the Force played some good footy. The Tahs are looking at 60 at least being put on them .

Agree to disagree. I feel that the force with a number of wallabies back (far more released from wallabies camp), didn’t look as good. But either way I think there’s some good to take from these Aussie teams.

Scorelines probably a fair reflection of where Australian Rugby is at these days. Just don't have the depth or class across the park of decades past, especially when you take a number of Wallabies out. NH nations have all improved so much comparatively. Too many Athletes running around in other codes to compete with a collective pulling from a population three times the size, not to mention pulling in players from other countries.
Sounds like a 3-0 lay down misere for the series against the Wallabies hey.

The Reds fielded a much stronger team than the Force but ended up losing by nearly exactly the same margin. They should have been much better than that. A disappointing result.

Wrong thread, but you'd expect the Lions to improve somewhat game to game, not to mention the personnel keep changing so that the relative comparisons aren’t exactly clear cut or probably even all that useful unless significant.

Observations from the ground.

As with the Force, I'm a bit perplexed as to why we went away from what was working. Aki and Jones were the weak link and we battered them early. Our forwards were rolling through nicely and we were making metres after contact with great leg drive. There was acres of space behind the line all night with Daly and van der Merwe staying the backfield - we kicked behind them twice early and we scored once and got a turnover another time. I guess it could the pressure that they put you under but we had opportunities to continue all of that and we stopped taking clever risks.

Talking of risks, I thought Uru was poor tonight, invited a lot of pressure and it showed on the tight five. I was very surprised that they didn't hook him at 45 minutes or even substitute him for the match at any point. On substitutions, I felt we missed a trick by not going a little earlier. With a 6-2 bench, you'd want to be giving everyone a break early. I also think we sent too much help to defend Aki who was not really threatening. Van der Merwe was walking over the line.

Without Tate and Lynagh we really do miss a steady hand out there controlling the flow. Thomas did well, especially early, but we were basically completely directionless by the time he went off. We could really use a JOC (James O'Connor) right now.

For the Lions, Itoje was immense in the tackle and wrestle and he just did it all night. Gibson-Park an extremely steady hand that new how to get it wide. I was shocked at how well the Lions defended wider given they barely know each other. You'd swear it was us who were the team without much time together.

The depth the lions have is definitely a concern, I feel like the wallabies will be in the game in the tests for 60 mins and then get blown away.
The wallabies cannot afford any injuries, if we need to start picking players from #25 and below it will be all over.
Hopefully Skelton and Valetini are just being managed as they will be crucial
