    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Reports at the time cited mental health reasons for leaving Benneton. Probably just needed some time back near family to get himself right. Wouldn't be the first person to take unders for better work/life balance.

R12: Waratahs vs Rebels - Saturday 13 May

I don't think it is clear at all. Maybe a slight edge, but not much more. You then need to consider the quality of service to them as well. This one is the Rebels to lose.

For rusted on fans - doesn’t help bring the next generation through. We need more of a mix.

    Rebels 2023

Walking in to the ground the Vixens were playing across the road, and Collingwood were playing Sydney at the G. It was raining, freezing, and we are at the back end of a losing season - again. We are playing more entertaining rugby, but if you aren’t winning, you’re not getting much visibility...

I thought this was a safe space for those of us who live in Melbourne and wanted to get away from the AFL chat.

There will be 3 or 4 pissed off contenders for the AFL CEO job as of this morning. Tom Harley from the Swans could be a left-field option, but Kylie Rogers or Travis Auld are probably more conventional candidates. Hard to see how they would top Phil Waugh and his decade long banking career though.

I don’t think you are going to find huge excitement for that here.

Some details around the PE offer the ARU has been shopping around in the Fin today. Inside Project Aurora, Rugby Australia’s bid to find itself a suitor “NewCo will form an unincorporated joint venture with the co-investors 100%-owned entity (HoldCo) such that HoldCo is granted rights to...

    Lions Tour 2025

The problem with Hobart is it is so small. It would be a similar prospect to playing in Townsville without the state population to support the fee to RA to get the game. It would be a great weekend though.

Super Rugby Rd 2: Rebels v Hurricanes

We had a trial down there many, many years ago.

Reece hadn't played Super Rugby the year before he made the Wallabies.

The Rebels want to put themselves on here to engage with the fans, it's fair to ask a question of them. The Rebels do appoint their suppliers. Also the questioning seems to be getting some results. Club knows about something it may not be aware of, members satisfaction increases. Win win. Lucky...

I got a 50kg towing hitch shipped overnight from Queensland for $15 the other day. How can it cost $25 to ship a gym towel? @MelbourneRebels you're here - care to explain?

    RWC 2023 Qualifying & Miscellany

If the right deal was put up though, RA could look to cut some of their cost by letting him go. They probably end up paying some of the shortfall between the Fiji and Wallaby contract though. There is that whole coaching another team in your pool aspect though, perhaps even part paying them to...

    Wallabies 2023

Also it’s Melbourne. Everyone here wears black anyway, so anyone not deliberately wearing gold was going to look like they supported NZ.

CVC taking a dividend of £27m on their 27% share suggests that the other owners (the clubs) have taken a dividend of around £73m pounds between them over the same period. A £29m debt seems serviceable if that is the case. Doesn’t line up nicely for a sensationalist tweet though.

Why does all our merch and marketing have burn city all over it? I’m north of 40 (just) - what is the target audience? Is it actually a thing outside of the Rebels marketing department and I’m just too old to know? I’ve always wondered - it’s great you guys are here to ask.

Something that interests me from your analysis @RugbyReg is how the each of the coaches may have made their own fortune over time. For example Robbie Deans has a high upset rate, but a low favourites win rate. Dave Rennie has the same. Have they had early losses as favourites that inflates their...

    Rebels 2023

We’ve finally found what’s held us back from success the past 12 years. We weren’t French looking enough! Victorian rugby, and Victorian sporting teams more generally, wear navy blue. It’s our state colour. The pink on the away jersey and training kit comes from our states floral emblem. Fuck...

    Lions Tour 2025

I think that’s the thing. It’s another level of distillation of talent. You aren’t a top level athlete without being ruthlessly competitive - it’s another chance to test yourself at an arguably higher level (albeit without the time together as a team to be as potent as possible).
