SRU president Phil Parsons talking on Big Sports Breakfast, sounds like he was way more happy when Raelene was running RA http://media.skyracing.com.au/POD/1/pIsUQ7.mp3

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Source?? Could read a number of things into this. 1 possibility being that the Super Rugby Franchises are all about to be wound up and finished and this is their desperate attempt to wrest some control and stay alive. I posted in the other other thread what I take is a quote from Mclennan printed...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The big RE-SET is coming one way or another
  7. The Honey Badger

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think "Level of Rugby" and attracting fans is not that well correlated. Fans can be attracted at a lower level. Lets step down another level (From the Force to SS) from the not too distant past: What’s been even more impressive is how attendances have grown. Last year, games at Manly...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Disagree We play our own players with limited imports. The level will be what it is, probably something close to what the Force are. Still very capable of entertaining. We will have more players playing elite competition, this is good for the development of Aus Rugby. I would think each...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Thats my second option, after a domestic. But a 4 or 3 team TT is completely Fucked, but with 1 rider and thats where they do both as 2 separate comps and the TT follows the domestic.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I am a little more optimistic than you. I think with some good marketing and some crowd engagement (ala GRR/Force), get the product right. In time it will sell. If it doesn't then we need to look for another reset, which is probably going back to SS and Premier Rugby as the second tier.
  11. The Honey Badger

    Australian Rugby / RA

The article was an interesting read but really didnt give much away. It made it clear that it was just "Super Rugby" for sale. (whatever that still means) Then read what you will into this; That means another opportunity for Australia and potentially the Kiwis to build a competition without...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The same place SS clubs fund themselves. We will be back to Semi Pro. The Wallabies and a handful other players will still get paid big $$. The rest wont get paid much at all. And when the stadiums fill and the subscriptions sell and the comp starts to generate some income, the player...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

No doubt that Bill, Raelene, Michael, Cameron and now Hamish have all had a read in the search for inspiration.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yeah, I'm not too fussed at that level. Broad concept is split QLD & NSW both into 2 teams - call them what you like. My preference would be stick to city and country. I'll support the 2nd NSW team, be it Country or Newcastle or Western Sydney or the Norther Beaches Buffalos
