Super Rugby Round 9, 2018 - Waratahs vs Reds - Saturday 14 April @ SCG

Although I would have liked to see a 6/2 bench with an extra backrow/lock but without Lucas it's a bit tough. I'm excited to see some experimenting with the lock/backrow combinations. Would like to see some more dearing options looked at in the backline.

Jesus, I knew the Brumbies lads were old but I didn't think they were THAT old!

    Reds 2018

Hamish Stewart 'unavailable' for U20's. Hopefully that means Thorn is planning on playing him some significant minutes.

Yeah, I don't know what was going on last year with selection to not see him and the two older (but still younger than TPN and Moore) Brumbies Hookers not even in the squad. Sometimes most of the time, I really wonder what goes into Cheika's squad selection. Is it something like this?

Super Rugby Round 9, 2018 - Waratahs vs Reds - Saturday 14 April @ SCG

I don't know I'm okay with him kicking well, normally that means his general play is poor. :p I'd rather trust us to not give up penalties than trust us to shut down a completely firing Waratahs backline! But I feel like if the Waratahs even touch the ball we are doing it wrong. :D

Super Rugby Round 9, 2018 - Waratahs vs Reds - Saturday 14 April @ SCG

I actually think Tuttle might be the biggest factor for the Reds forturens in attack. If he can use his forward runners well the Reds have PLENTY of go forward and should consistently win the gain line against the much more lightweight Waratahs pack. If he tries to use his backs (almost at all...

    Reds 2018

Yeah, it's ironic but Quade's defensive style actually is almost exactly what you'd really want from him sort of him actually being a good defender.

Don't say that too loud, Chekia just might do that.:D

Phipps is back for the Waratahs, not sure who that's an advantage for... :p

Super Rugby Round 9, 2018 - Waratahs vs Reds - Saturday 14 April @ SCG

Except the Waratahs don't really have anyone outside of Simmons or maybe Hanigan who can really contest the lineouts. The Reds have Douglas, and Rodda, Korczyk, ASY (Angus Scott-Young)/Wright... and then because they really need another jumper Timu is also a reasonable jumper -- I don't know that you'd ever...

Super Rugby Round 9, 2018 - Waratahs vs Reds - Saturday 14 April @ SCG

I think compared to the actual odds of the Reds winning $4 is pretty good. I'm not saying I think the Reds will win but 4 bucks is 4 bucks.

Yeah, that's very weird that SANZAR and Fox would have such a discrepancy in their numbers and on something that's usually very clear as to who is penalised. Also I fucking HATE that SANZAR website it's so slow to load and really clunky (it's a technical term :p ).

Perhaps I'm miss reading the 'Penalty Conceded' line from FoxSports Stats (here) or they are making it up or something. But here is the numbers for Arnold and Carter. Maybe 'Penalties Conceded' means penalties gotten not number of times penalised, but I don't buy Tupou having 'drawn' 7 penalties.

To throw a wrench in that -- Douglas is probably Australia's best lock by the numbers -- tackles, run meters. Carter and Arnold are are among the most penalised players in Super Rugby just for an example. While I'd have Douglas out of the Reds side as quickly as possible, but if you check out...

You'd like to stick with our 32 year old hooker who isn't playing in Australia and can't throw a lineout -- when our lineout is already going to be very poor? I mean we could just abandon the lineout altogether... But I don't think that would work out well. Edit: Also I forgot injury riddled.

Forwards Hooker Honestly, I'd much prefer us not picking TPN -- he's too weak with his lineout and if we are going with Pooper (Hooper being Capitan and Pocock playing like he's the second coming of 'Mr Nobody' or fucking George Smith! Also I can't believe he's still fucking playing!)...

Super Rugby Round 9, 2018 - Waratahs vs Reds - Saturday 14 April @ SCG

My point is just that the Reds did it last year. It was never anything more than that. I'm more interested in the packs, it appears the Waratahs have their scrum going alight and the Reds scrum looks in disarray, while this might be the a good opportunity for the Reds scrum to find some...

Does anyone think this will push Folau to seek a contract elsewhere (maybe New Zealand, or France as examples)? Or push the ARU to not renew his contract? Or make it more difficult to select him? Because ultimately that's what we are really concerned about in this thread. (Also maybe the...
