I am not a massive fan of the McGahan bashing, I do think there were some curios decisions, but he's won a title with Munster and was a former Wallabies defensive coach IIRC. I personally feel like there was pressure from head office for him to play various players in certain positions but...

I disagree, I felt like you didn't have an outright bad team. They weren't as good as the team this year, but they were far from as bad as they ended up. When I looked at that team sheet from last year, I was like second half of the ladder but at worst 3 quarters, not dead last. TL;DR: They...

    Reds 2018

Honestly, I wasn't sure it wasn't an April Fools day gag, but surely they would have put Izzy in if that were the case.

Zero Brumbies, two Rebels I get they got pumped, but the 'Tahs only won by 7. Zero Brumbies, yet all but two from the Waratahs were clearly better than their counterparts (and even then it was someone from the Rebels? I'm not disputing it being justified in being stacked with 'Tahs, sure maybe...

Fair, I don't actually know when either of them are born, but my point was Beale is the wrong side of 25, Kerevi is the right (only just apparently) side of it. To be fair Kerevi's a little older than I thought he was, I felt like he was like 23.

So the few people I speak to about it think there is a heavy Waratahs bias from Rugby.com.au. I agree they do weight it towards the winning teams. But looking at that list you'd think the Waratahs had won with the score line of the Rebles! Like they won by less than 10 points! Surely there was...

So not exactly the place for it, but anywhere else it'll get the Waratah Circle Jerk, 13 of the 'team of the week' from Rugby.com.au are Waratahs.

Nope top 8, it means just over half the teams make finals. I'm fine with this, let more teams get mauled by the Kiwi's it makes more fans feel like their teams are doing better. I actually think there is a case to be made for having the top two teams from each conference play finals (one home...

I don't disagree at all, but my point is Kerevi is much better defensively than Beale, and gives you a lot more in terms of ball running yes at the cost of playmaking -- something Foley doesn't do at all really. If we had an approach to the game that wasn't 'they might score 30 but then we'll...

    The Wallabies Thread

I find it very ironic that we are talking about Kerevi being a bad defender and that keeping him out of a Wallabies team... in a team that's likely to consist of Foley, Beale, and Folau. The only player in Australian Rugby who is more of a turnstile is Quade Cooper. We literally hide all three...

When I say compete for finals, I mean get bounced in the first round. That would take finishing in the top 8, that's the top 50% of teams, that's not too onerous. We haven't played a Kiwi side, but we did have a successful tour of Argentina and South Africa -- nothing to sneeze at.

Exactly, you would have thought something like 5 years and 50 caps would be a sensible point to draw the line at. But I don't think they'll change it for Folau, he's good but he's not THAT good.

    Reds 2018

I think it's unlikely but possible we win 4 from 4. The Brumbies look in disarray. The Waratahs have no scrum (although somehow the Brumbies weren't able to best them?!). The Lions have been very erratic. The Chiefs are probably the second weakest NZ team and winning at Suncorp isn't easy. But...

If one was to list Folsu's strengths and weaknesses and then see only that list, even Blind Freddy would tell you he's a winger.

No Smith nor Perese for Brumbies Clash.

    Reds 2018

Nah, he's not been AWESOME, he's been good, for him he's been outstanding, but he's far from the best scrummagers in the game. So interesting question, with Pocock lurking for the Brumbies does that change who we pick at 7 -- how do we deal with him around the breakdown.

    Rebels 2018

I don't disagree. It does feel like a bit of a Melbourn issue, even last year -- they were not a bad team at all last year, but they were just unable to win games when they got hard. This year they have much more talent but still are unable to win tough.

DHP and Hunt IF fit are clear upgrades (in terms of pure play at fullback). If nothing else Folau IS a winger and has been playing out of position for the majority of his career.

CFS has been playing very well. Also Kerevi's defence looks much improved but he is more playing 12. It's an interesting question. Who have the Waratahs and Rebels been playing at 13 -- whoever they are I can't think of them so they mustn't be playing that well.

Except when Folau plays at Fullback he defends on the wing... except everyone defends on the wing in the current Wallabies setup.
