there's got to be some new rules put in place. when you have 3 Super Rugby players playing off the bench - how is this an "amateur" competition? when you have 6+ guys having either played in Wallabies matches, or been at selection camp - how is this "amateur" competition? On Friday on the way...
Enjoyed my time on the hill yesterday. some taunts funny - others probably crossed the line a touch. Although I'm sure (from all reports) he's a prat, calling him "a cancer on rugby" and "i'm going to fire bomb your car Carter" are probably pushing it. Although the constant taunts of Tom...
home from the Oval. cruel way for MMM to lose the game. the better team on the day lost.
1 thing was clearly evident though......no one likes Tom Carter.
great day down at the glorious Manly Oval. Large crowd. Great game between a touring Irish school and the Manly Academy - very competitive and fun to watch. Irish Schools getting up. 3rd Grade Colts produced what looked like their best game of the year systematically picking Eastwood apart...
reducing the colts 3 comp to 11 rounds is a disgrace. the draw got too hard to figure out and some teams had 4 byes others 2. what the SRU has done is robbed kids of 7 rounds. There are kids who just love to come out and play some footy and won't be fussed and others who are busting their backs...
HJ. could not agree more. getting these kids a formal education to fall back on is essential. 1% will make money from footy. and surely not enough to retire. Gordon has UTS, Uni has...well..Uni, Manly has ICMS etc.
Some sort of formal partnership with Unis/TAFE is something the ARU...
could have sworn the actual players had a choice? chalk it up to better opportunities? "taken" is a bit harsh. Tough to argue with Uni. "hello 18 year old footy player, how would you like to play for the "best" club in Australia. oh - and we'll pay for your degree so when you give the game...
it'll be interesting to see what he cops. I see it on the higher side of things. A king hit that KO'd the Eastwood player and left him with what I'm sure will be deemed a grade 3 concussion as he lost consciousness.
either way. bloody disgraceful.
interesting results indeed. NSWRU site has been updated.
3s is anyone's game really and if injuries to higher grade players don't demolish the comp, could be a fun ride from the looks of things.
