Agreed. Joeys 9 is the most talented, followed by Shore, then Riverview and then the Kings 9 in my opinion. Very strong cohort of 9s, they are all excellent players.
When healthy is a key phrase there. Bartlett’s only played 3 GPS games I believe so hard to put him in over boys who have played 8 games at a high level.
Cranbrook will be alright next year, but will be very good in 2025. There are only boys on scholarships this year in the 1s from year 11 (4). There should be about 4 boys in the 1s next year from year 11 who are currently in the 2s. Should be 4-5 from the 16s who play 1s and then most likely 2-3...
Tom Christie, the saders open-side has been playing really well recently (I believe he got motm against blues last week). He’s really good over the ball and does all the little things really well; he’s a workhorse. I thought he was unlucky not to make the All Blacks XV
This is true. It’s honestly a massive predicament that CAS Rugby has found themselves in. Alloys aren’t competitive in rugby and won’t be until they’re able to provide scholarships to players. The GPS had this problem with Shore being uncompetitive but their structure changed and now they are...
Respectable list mate. No glaring misses, however I have heard Weaver (9) from Barker is quite a solid player. But Ward and Patterson are both very solid
I’m reading from a CAS advocate. I must say this season of GPS footy is exciting and competitive. It’s anyones for the taking! However, after the first 2 rounds, these are my predictions after watching the games on Clutch (I wish CAS streamed there games)
1. Kings
2. Riverview
3. Newington
4...
This year is going to be a tight competition, but I believe Knox or Barker will come out victors. I think this is a weak year for CAS rugby, as the GPS teams look a bit stronger. However, this should be a great season of footy. Good luck to all players and teams!
Realistically I believe there will be 2-3 who make the CAS 1 given the strength of Knox and Barker. Also Waverly will have a couple players and Trinity’s 9 could definitely be a shout.
I think there’s a few boys in the running for CAS 1 for brook.
Mckenzie (6), Jackson (8), Girle (5), Ah-Colt (3), Allen (10, but I think he’s better at 15) and if Tovio (13) lifts his game just a bit then he could be in the running.
