I think that is one of the more interesting selections. A No.10 in the comp leading team being selected out of position. Renton will do well at 15. This is a boy who doesn't seem to mind the pressure or challenge of a big match-up so it will be great to see how things work out in round 2 when...
(only clipped SDW to save a repeat of his very good report)
and 0-0 for the first +30 mins (?) of the match.
An indication of just how tightly wound were these two teams . Knox second try came within moments of the restart and a slow re-engagement from Cranbrook. A credit to both side as to...
Cranbrook took outright lead today in CAS with win over Knox.
This year's Scots v Cranbrook game next month may be a touch more competitive than normal - thank goodness.
Should be a great game for fans of schoolboy rugby.
It was a tough forwards game and a few of this forum's questions answered today...
Line out - dominated by Cranbrook
Scrums - dominated by Cranbrook
Both sides very disciplined. Knox tough and strong around the scrum but not good enough today. Knox and Cranbrook backlines had a great tussle...
Rugby has been, still is and will continue to be something Waverley takes very seriously. The school has tried something different this year and made some changes which don't appear to have been overly successful. Whatever that change was and what the school do to fix things, the lesson from...

I also enjoy your commentary and would also be keen to your thoughts on Waverley in particular.
Why do you find that inconsistent? He is an important part of the squad, a team of many people but there is one person in charge - the coach.
Like in any team I thought.
Yes Mark is an important part of the squad and has been for a few years... as is a professionally trained and qualified physio. The boys need to be trained well in what is a highly technical game as much for health and safety as it is skills development.
The discussion surrounding...
I've stood at Barker under my umbrella watching a better drilled side outplay Cranbrook not because they were necessarily any more impressive physically (and in some positions they were) but they played a smarter game of rugby.
I've heard no mention of them this year but I could very easily be wrong.
There presence never loomed very large. I applaud the old head coach who cares very much about Cranbrook Rugby and the players who declined to carry on coaching this year. I think he recognised that the boys needed a...
This issue surrounding professional coaching or not is a distraction. The question that needs to be addressed is good coaching versus bad coaching. The change this year in the Cranbrook setup is that there is a new head coach but he also happens to be a teacher at the school. The man has the...
