Tim Cymru vs Australia

I think both teams will go for it, I cant see OZ wanting Wales to beat them down there, Some key players on our side wont be playing, The game against France may have taken its toll too, But I think we will give it our best shot,
Pocock will be your ace card as we dont have a genuine open side in the 30 man squad, Scrums to should be even with our Tight head injured, But why play it Friday when everyone is in work bad call by the organisers me thinks.

As strong a side as we can put out. Gatland and the bois are going for the win!

If Deans makes wholesale changes he is :-
a) admitting that his "plan" the whole year was crap and he is just a poor coach and tactician. or
b) given the b team and squad tackle bags a run for nostalgia reasons thereby showing the contempt he hold the third place play off in.

Before the irate replies, yes I know of the injuries.

Thought I'd join up and say good luck to all of you Oz supporters as we are going to be playing each other quite a bit over the next year. So what better starting point that 3rd place play-off? (That would be the Final I guess).

Wales should be up for this but losing our 7 and having no specialist back-up available at short notice could be a telling point. I wouldn't worry too much usually but going up against Pocock is the issue. We've seen how Warbs has helped turn games in being a true top class fetcher and having that done to us now ain't going to be nice. You should play fair and put a blindside as 7 as we've also dropped out tighthead for you (he wasn't injured really just thought we'd give you a chance).

Hoping for a good game from 2 young teams and should be a good starting point for our 5 game show down. Just can't wait for us both to have full strength teams with Warbs and Pocock up against each other....... I'm going to miss that battle this Friday.

Good luck all.

Welcome Aboard RedCard.

Don't just stay here for Men in Gold vs the Men in Red matches. We have a very broad base of readership here albeit obviously Aussie and SH centric. There are a number of Gaggerlanders who are interested in NH rugby and actively discuss Heineken Cup, Magners League, French Top 14, Aviva, 6N rugby etc. Please stay around.

I'll certainly be popping in off and on, not just when it's a Wales v Oz game. I'm a member of a couple of other forums but try to limit my time on them. I started to spend a bit too much time on one years ago (IRB old one) and it affects work so been a good boy for a while. I've often read this one like a few others and it seems a decent place to have a chat.

Trying to get myself motivated to watch this 3rd place game but still a bit gutted after the weekend...... you guys know what that feels like too.

Looking forward to the Oz team being announced.

lets not be too PC. Me and plenty of other Gaggerlanders may need to tone down our references to Soap Dodgers, Spud Bashers, Septics, Leek Eaters, Garlic Munchers, Surrender Monkeys, Sheep Shaggers etc.

If it is good enough for us Dingos to get stuck into other national stereotypes, then we should be man enough to accept some incoming from them. We are proud of our convict heritage, so why do we have a cringe when an outsider reminds us of that?

I am not a criminal. I do know some poms who shower. I also happen to know that the vast majority of kiwis do not commit bestiality with woolly animals. I now know that the Welsh do not eat leaks and that it is reference to a mode of identification in some battle.

None of this knowledge will stop me from refering to Soap Dodgers as Soap Dodgers, NZers as Sheep Shaggers, etc. Hanging shit on others is a national characteristic of Australians.

So Chain rattlers is fine then? Glad stereotypes are taken for what they are on a forum like this..... a bit of friendly banter.

Any news on the team announcement? Starting to look forward to this now.

I read somewhere it had to be announced 48 hours before kick-off. Guess I'll see it in the morning now (UK morning anyway). Hope they go for full strength so there's no excuses when we beat them ;-)

Of course should the worse happen and somehow we lose we've already got our excuses stacked up with Adam Jones, Warbs and Priestland out even without dragging up our original captain still at home...... not that I'm getting my excuses in early.

So are the Welsh clamoring for Gatland's resignation because he only carried one openside in the 30?

News yesterday evening was that

Lock Dan Vickerman (shoulder, leg and broken nose), prop Sekope Kepu (eye), centre Pat McCabe (shoulder) and hooker Stephen Moore (sternum) have all been ruled out
Queries still over Beale, Genia, Elsom allegedly. Ioane's thumb?

Plenty was said in the run up to the tournie about only 1 specialist 7 but he has largely been vindicated. Martyn Williams many were wondering why he wasn't included but he wouldn't have had a look in with Warbs playing so well and being capt. MW is in NZ now and might be on the way back to full fitness as he bust his arm 5 weeks ago. Gats is probably more comfortable with the battle hardened players now. Faletau did well against France considering the circumstances. Many thought Lydiate would have been cover but doesn't now seem that way. In an ideal world we would have had 2 7's but in a squad of 30 you have to pick and choose where you leave yourself thin on the ground and use utility cover.

Shackle-draggers...... I'll keep that one in reserve for a later date. Cheers. Does sheep shaggers double for us Welsh as well as the Kiwis? Wouldn't want to be left out of that one.

No clamour over selections. Concern over Hook. but t'was pointed out that this was a weakness before. More concern over why he felt it necessary to openly admit thinking of cheating in French game

Not taking nugget was a mistake in my opinion but it would be churlish to bring that up considering he has been pretty well vindicated in every other decision (Faletau, Priestland, Spala, the "Team Wales" thing). There's quite a lot of people who still don't like/rate him, but I personally think that's more to do with their distaste with anything which detracts from their local club/region to be honest.

We're Welsh though, so give it a couple of months and he'll be shipped back off to NZ while we dissolve into recrimination and disarray.
