went out to the SLC vs St Pats match today. st pats 26 - lauries 25. a thrilling game with patties scoring on the bell to win. Lauries started well with a slick backline play to put their winger in the corner. From then on St pats just dominated possesion and got a couple of tries with their centre and a forward im pretty sure. half time score was st pats 19 - lauries 5. SLC came out firing with a a couple of good forward tries and good defence by the backs. it was 19-18 with about 10 minutes left and lauries again scored a try which put them into the lead at 25-19. St Pats got a scrum on lauries 40m line and lauries no.13 put on a monster hit on St pats no.12 which really lifted lauries. But the flyhalf failed to kick the ball out and Pats got possesion and a couple of quick penalties and for about 5 minutes lauries defended their hearts out and their was a clear knock on from pats but the ref didnt pick it up and finally pats got a try under the posts on fulltime. Probably one of the most exciting schoolboy games ive seen in a while.

Sensational game of rugby. Lauries extremely unlucky not to have fulltime blown before the last scrum which resulted in the winning try. If Pats play like they did in the first half I don't think any team could beat them. The #13 from Pats and the #8 from Lauries had standout games.

Villanova vs St Edmonds- Very frustrating rugby from villanova, were in touch for most of the game then let their heads drop and that led to some very easy running and tries for St Edmonds. Noticed Villa missing a couple of players, their usual 10 wasn't playing and the bloke who played tighthead for them against St Laurences wasn't playing. The St Edmonds fullback, hooker, loosehead and flyhalf all had good games, while for Villanova, the tighthead, and 2nd rower and captain Scott Mains starred.

St Peters vs Ashgrove - Quite a tough contest for favourites Marist brothers with the young SPLC team putting in a spirited display. Both team's backlines failed to click again with numerous drop balls when in possession, while the forward packs had a great contest at the set piece with the SPLC scrum getting the upper hand. For Peters captain Eddie Wasaga-Thompson was a steady influence at scrum time and made some good runs, with year 11 center Moses Rambi also having a good game. The Ashgrove back line looked a hundred times more dangerous today with the return of Jonno Kent at fullback, he provided the spark they were missing last week scoring a try and setting up another. Not sure on the end score but Ashgrove went home winners by about 30points, but was an absorbing contest.

Disgraceful referring performance in the last 5 minutes ruined a great game, I think his eyes were painted on.
Reserve for Lauries (No 18) had a real crack, gutsy performance.
Bad luck Lauries you did the Black Jersey proud.
Go Marist next week.

Iona vs Padua- A hard fought competitive match but the padua boys were on top for the majority of the match. Early penalties resulted in a 3-3 contest before padua's hard running forward play resulted in a try to the very impressive number 2. A few niggles and scuffles ensured the game wasnt going to be an easy one, and after a half of domination, but failing to convert it into points, the padua boys led 8-3 at the break. Shortly after half time a try to padua put them up 15-3. Solid play by the padua backs and forwards resulted in many metres being made, however still couldnt turn it into points, although the referee couldve pulled up iona for diving over every ruck. Iona hit back with a try out wide to make it 15-8, before the padua number 12 continued his dominant display crashing over for the matchwinning try 5 minutes from fulltime. Ill-discipline saw the iona number 8 recieve his marching orders 3 minutes from time. Padua unlucky not to score many more tries, but a very dominant performance none the less. Padua easy winners 22-8 over a more than competitive Iona side. Standout players from both sides: Padua - Number 2, 7 & 12 Iona- 7 & 12

yeah but because of the way the terms are finishing at schools this year, they are picking them earlier, not sure if this is 100% true, but have heard it from numerous people

Surely you would have to make room for Creighton somewhere in that side? He has been carving up by all reports. Interesting to see the battle for #7

We appoint a former test referee and people are still not happy.

Having seen 4 AIC fullbacks this year (SPLC, SPC, Padua, Ashgrove) the Ashgrove 15 has easily looked the best, his game against Peters on saturday was a class above. I will reserve my judgement for the AIC 15 spot until I see the Iona, Eddies, Villa and Lauries boys strut their stuff. At the moment though he's best I've seen.
