Balmain Subbies

kings vs Scott’s today

thought both teams were good in patches, kings fowards seemed to dominate Scott’s. Edwin Langi was outstanding.

kings seemed to sub lots of players giving boys early rest, next week Tonga and Boston look to return.

Scott’s looked missing without filter and steep, I liked Leo Jacques and how he played today but did seem to struggle in patches matched up against lokeni. Overall the game was ok.

both teams will need to work on a 70 min performance rather then greatness in patches leading into the round games.
Just like it's not pink, Scots only requires one T. It is to associate with its country's namesake

Riverview handled Waverley pretty comfortably over the course the game in my opinion.

Defending their line with a man down for 10 minutes was great to see. Waverley are no easy beats but very one dimensional in the forward play and the backs go wide too soon. I don’t see Barker or Knox being too threatened by them if you hold the ball you’ll be able to score points on them.

View 7 was non stop all game and has the ability to change momentum on his own.

3rd XV Trial 2 Results

High 1st XV 25 d Newington 3rd XV 24
What a great win for High and the first victory for a number of years. Considering that last season they did not score a single point in 7 comp games, this is a great result and a sign that they will be in the mix in the 3rd XV competition this year. Well done!

Kings 3rd XV 14 d v Scots 3rd XV 12
This match turned out to be the close contest that was predicted with the defending co-premiers opening their trial season with a narrow win over Scots. Both Kings and Scots will be in the running this year and have opened their seasons well.

Shore 3rd XV 12 d Knox 3rd XV 7
Shore extend their winning streak with a close away win over Knox 3rd XV at Wahroonga. With a couple of wins under their belt, it will be interesting to see how they go next week in Trial 3 against Kings.

Waverley 2nd XV 20 d Riverview 3rd XV 12
A good performance by Riverview 3rd XV against Waverley 2nds who are pretty strong. Riverview should have an easier game next week against Newington and will be better for this hitout.

Joeys 3rd XV 42 d Oakhill 2nd XV 7
This was a great result for Joeys 3rds and an indication that they are hitting form at the right time. Their matches against St Greg's have been excellent preparation for the season. They face Scots away next week in the thrid trial and that will be another good indication of how they are travelling.

Kinross 1st XV 33 d Grammar 1st XV 15
Kinross make it two from two wins over GPS 1st XV teams after their big win over TAS last week and would be very pleased to knock Grammar off at home. But that's two trial losses to Grammar and they face Stannies next week before a final trial against St Pats. A bit hard to tell how they are going in preparation for the GPS 3rd XV comp but time will tell.

Note to all readers: The 3rd XV comp has only one round of 7 games and so there are two more trials even though the 1st and 2nd comps start next week.

Something that is underrated for the new comp is the fact that Riverview has played with almost the same backline since Year 5. The 9,10, 13, 14 and 15 have all played together and their combinations are unreal. Keen to see how they go against the Waverly triangle players.
That backline was phenomenal today you could really tell they've been playing together all those years. The addition of grover (13) was vital for that Riverview team as he scored 3 tries today, I believe Riverview are underdogs heading into this GPS season but could end up being a strong competitor for the premiership

Completely agree Phil. With a few upsets around the comp and View winning a few close games, they can definitely bring it home.

FYI Joker, the “swamp” as you refer First field as is in pristine condition currently and the ground staff deserve respect for their hard work in preparation for the season.

New vs Barker 1sts
Barker got up 37-33 could have gone either way. 5-5 tries.
Newington was all over them in the first 20 mins with all of play in the barker half but only had one try to show for it. And barker hit back twice. Ht 12-7 to Barker.

Barker pulled away in the start of the second half and got up to 26-12. Newington came back well but barker took 2 penalty goals that solidified the game. Very good game from two very good teams.

St Gregs should give a lot of the ISA teams some real trouble. View won 25/22 but Gregs were up 22/7 with 20 minutes to go and they looked to completely drop off.

Their offloading is elite and have some hard runner. Auggies, Gregs and Oakhill have some tough games this year

It didnt explicitly say "No INP Entry" but it is disappointing that Riverview appear to be maintaining their NO VISITORS policy.
"Grounds and facilities are closed to members of the public."
Go to Tambourine Bay or Burns Bay Reserve you plebs!

Fair enough on school days but on weekends with sporting fixtures against other schools?

Gregs boys showing a massive improvement from last year, definitely one to keep an eye on.

I'd 100% consider Rodwell as the fullback for GPS 1's. He was the best player on the pitch and completely outclassed poynton.

Hey Joker, if I am wrong please tell me, but it seems 2 people got the exact margin, being myself (Kings vs Scots) and RugbyAU (Knox vs Shore),
You did but your points are correct in the table.

Barker 5
Joeys 3
View 3
Kings 10 for exact margin

TOTAL 21

I might get shouted down for this buy anyone else agree that the tipping comp should move to a separate thread?
The tipping comp is just a AAGPS thing. People know it is here and it drives traffic to the thread.
Plus it just makes it easy going to one thread.
