Hi Dusk
you seem to know a bit about New. What was your recolection of the Scots/New game last year ? Miracle or not ? Agree, New backs have speed with Rodwell,TFJ,Mclean Junior and Avati. Cleverley is solid and Humphries plays a good 10. Needs to give his outside backs clean and early ball. Hope View are prepared to tackle all day.
Scots forwards were noticeably bigger than Newington's forwards and scored 2 rolling maul tries which Newington couldn't do much about. I agree it was a close contest but it was clear that Newington had much more possession of the ball and were able to advance into Scots territory. The Newington kicker also had a blinder, that was what really won them the game.

The miracle was the result saw Scots finish last on the table. That has not happened in a long while. Considering the cattle they had I was predicting a higher finish.

No need to apologise. It seems most of the punters are picking the Dark Empire this weekend.
It may take a small band of brave rebels pulling off a miracle to repeat this.

J and AA, voted with the head, more than happy for an upset :D.

Big fan of the tunnel joker. When junior spank first started at Oakhill the first 15 results were not so great. The crowds (both parents and students ) were extremely small and no interest for students to stay back and watch which was a shame. As results have improved over the last 5-6 years the crowds have returned and the students have bought into supporting the first XV again. The tunnel makes them feel a part of the team and of course the players love it
Without a doubt GO the TUNNEL,

If you think outside schoolboy footy, eg the big stage, it doesn't happen, and boys wait all their formative years to hopefully one day run through a/ THE BIG TUNNEL, having been part of it all their school years, cheering on their school heros!

It is theatre but I believe it is one of schools true bonding treasures that tends not to happen again. as much, outside school.
One of the joys of school, may it live long!

You are being 1 dimensional!
This is a winners pose, often a Joeys thing and so be it, BUT boys from all schools work their back sides off but don't win, there is typically only 1 winner, and so the BUZ and of the tunnel, and build up to the BIG game, is big deal to all the boys.
Stop being the grinch! Young Man!
Thanks
Your answer highlights the cultural difference between Joeys and most other schools. While Scots does venerate their 1st XV, Joeys believe the most important team in the school is the school.

Some older heads would remember this day.

I quote.....

On Saturday, for the first time in 14 years, the two First XVs met. It was not merely a clash of juggernauts. It was a clash of cultures. No school is immune to the reality that teenage boys have been engaging in testosterone-driven excess since teenage boys were invented, but Joeys, like all the GPS schools, is a place where parents send their children for quality and character, and tradition. In the now huge Catholic schools system, Joeys and Riverview are the city on the hill. On Saturday afternoon, in front of 5000 people, Joeys did Hayes a big favour. They smashed Eddies: St Joseph's 46, St Edmund's 0.
And have they played each other since then? And to complete the story Hayes then ended up at Joeys for a very brief stay.

Hayes taught English at 'View in the 80's, quietly spoken bloke. Bob Egerton taught Science and Ag' in the same era.
