This goes out to the Lovable Lane Cove Loonies.

Has the College taken any precautions this weekend for the inevitable invasion of View old boy reunion groups and Joeys old boys?

I hate to see a repeat of 2018. If anyone could update here that would be appreciated.

Meanwhile here are the Joeys old boys arriving at The Swamp

WOW!

to say that I was utterly shocked after hearing the riverview five eight lost his appeal is a understatement. I've seen alot of people on this forum who were under the belief that it was a cumilation of two yellow cards that prompted the red when infact it was a yellow card followed by a straight red crad. this speaks volumes to how soft the penalty was. I am 100% in agreeance that he should have recieved a second yellow but a suspension just seems way to far. looking at that and Lemotos' shot on joeys no.14 I am dumbfounded as to which one will be missing this weeks game. Does anyone know whats happening with Lemoto, because if he does not take at least one week of I would become very suspicious as to which school dominates the political end of the AAGPS! Pondering this question Makes me think back to 2021 when Conner McCullen (Scots College) was chosen over Jack Bowen (St. Ignatius College)(now starting 10 for the Waratahs) in the GPS 1XV! It is sad to think that some people may way to use their power to sway results at the detrement of young men and their hard work.
Still bit salty Scots 10 was better than View 10?

From my understanding he won't be at school training throughout the week but will play on the Saturday for New. They fly back down on the friday morning i believe. So might be a little tired or sore but should be playing

The origin camp doesn't start until tomorrow and then they train over the weekend before going to Qld on Monday - I can't see him playing this weekend unfortunately. This is the risk one plays when you put kids who have clearly chosen league in your rugby team. I wish the school thanked him for his time and told him he no longer needs to present for duty at games or training any more. If he isn't going to play, then he shouldn't benefit from the program.

Laughable honestly. There are tons of players across the GPS who have committed themselves to league. The exposure the school gets from these league players when they play is enormous. I for one see these boys' schools brought up many games in the NRL, especially near when the debut. Casey McLean or Tolu Koula or Kaeo Weekes for example every time they do something special they say that he was "A product of Newington College". I'm sure these boys missing 1 game is worth the exposure the schools get for their old boys playing at this high level

Many players coming through the gps are playing league, and if they were not allowed to play, the competition would be significantly less competitive. Players such as Grantham, Makasini, both Large brothers, Bassingthwaighte, Callaghan, Roberts-Lintmeijer, Taylor. Who are all star players of this season. As well as playing rugby for their schools which not only develops their game but also gives them opportunities of leadership and teamwork.

There has been a fair bit of communication from the School via the Old Boys Union. People just need to appreciate the event and don't be afraid to check your mate if they are carrying on like a knob. We were all that age and the pack mentality takes over but just needs a couple to remember its a footy game and you are watching children even though you may have been at School with them a couple of years ago, know a brother, sister, neighbour etc.

The game will also be broadcast at the Longueville Bowling Club (Diddy) Longueville Hotel, Great Northern Hotel and Greenwood Hotel if groups do want to watch and have a beer. I like this move personally and shows a bit of thinking from the Schools instead of running from issues and taking it to Leichhardt.

Roberts-Lintmeijer is in the Aus rugby junior 7s program.

Also, all of those players such as Grantham, are not missing games.

If you read my point, it was that when a player is regularly choosing not to play, why should they be in the program?

Makasini has missed every game but one this season. He missed the first round because he played city v country in league. There are no doubt other kids who have chosen league, but they are still committed to playing rugby. Grantham for New is one. He isn't missing games on a regular basis - in fact, in 2022 (might have been 2021), he told the school he wanted to focus on league so he REMOVED himself from the rugby program that year, with a promise to return to the program in 2023 - because he didn't want to be involved if he wasn't fully committed.

And how does a league commentator referring to the school a player went to benefit the school or rugby (as if it happens regularly too btw)? The schools do not need the exposure lol. And it certainly doesn't benefit rugby

Laughable? Please, perhaps reflect on your own post. Give me strength.

It's unfair to say he is "regularly" and "choosing" to not play. He played against Joeys with a significant groin injury which is the reason on why he. has been injured for the last couple of weeks. He has missed one game so far this season due to playing for city, and despite being selected for the U19's team he is still playing both this Saturday against Scots as well as next Saturday against Riverview. So if anything he is choosing to put the Newington rugby above his own physical health, by pushing his body to play with his mates and for his school.

Sadly Newington have been proven week in allowing their students determine what they do.

if the school is offering a student help in attending the school (word that shall not be used) then the school needs to have the balls to say school rugby comes first.

Hemasi who pays his own fees is a different situation as the school hasn’t made an investment. Whereas in past students like rodwell who would miss games for nsw 19s ect was disappointing.

Newo need to take a stance like kings who have made a major emphasis on if the school is investing in you, you must reinvest. Look at the 1stxv over the last couple years at kings. All league players were not allowed to “sit out” in either summer or winter due to league. Epically in year 11 and 12. I’m sure you will notice players like talen ristai will not be playing for parra in 26

If that's the case then fair enough. Consider me burnt from last year's experience when several New 1st XV players did choose to miss games. It affected the program and the culture. I still maintain that in instances when players choose to miss games they should be precluded.

Agree. Fortunately the new DOR is big on building rugby culture so I fully expect past practices to diminish.

Interestingly Lemoto is selected too....even though he has committed to French rugby. The game is on June 19 - its a one off, so they may miss this week but will be back possibly after the winter holidays. Still no clear communication about whether Makasini is injured or the school aren't selecting him tbh
That's his older Brother that has been selected not Heinz.
