NSW AAGPS 2025 (banter and commentary)

Makasini has missed every game but one this season. He missed the first round because he played city v country in league. There are no doubt other kids who have chosen league, but they are still committed to playing rugby. Grantham for New is one. He isn't missing games on a regular basis - in fact, in 2022 (might have been 2021), he told the school he wanted to focus on league so he REMOVED himself from the rugby program that year, with a promise to return to the program in 2023 - because he didn't want to be involved if he wasn't fully committed.

And how does a league commentator referring to the school a player went to benefit the school or rugby (as if it happens regularly too btw)? The schools do not need the exposure lol. And it certainly doesn't benefit rugby

Laughable? Please, perhaps reflect on your own post. Give me strength.
Would just like to put out there that this did not happen and that was the year when Grantham broke his collarbone and had to get surgery.

Makasini has been out for the last 2 weeks with a strain in his calf.

Makasini has missed majority of his games due to injury. I'm not sure where your getting your information from but Grantham never made a statement remotely similar to what you have stated. If your referring to 2023 when he didn't play it was due to a collarbone injury which took him out for majority of the season.

3rd XV Round 2 Preview
The 2025 3rd XV competition season is well and truly under way following the first-round matches on Saturday 31 May. There are 7 rounds and the teams only play each other once, unlike the 1st and 2nd XVs, so every match counts and it’s a hard competition to win. Shore 3rd XV holds the Col Windon Shield from last year.

Round 1 Results:
Riverview 31 d High 0
Kings 27 d Scots 12
Shore 28 d Grammar 5
Joeys 24 d TAS 18

TAS 1st XV v Shore 3rd XV (11:00am on TAS Backfield)
TAS put up a very strong showing against Joeys at Hunters Hill in round 1, only losing by a late try. They have some fast outside backs and the necessary big forwards to challenge the other teams in this competition. But Shore also started well, defeating Grammar at Rushcutters Bay. This should be a terrific match in Armidale, and based on their good showing against Joeys, I think TAS can win this one at home on the glorious Backfield. But it will be close.
TAS by 3.

Joeys 3rd XV v Scots 3rd XV (11:00am on SJC #1)
Joeys are on the board following a win over TAS at Hunters Hill in round 1, and they meet a Scots team coming off a first-round loss to Kings. While it is only round 2, this is pretty much a grand final for Scots, as history has shown that it is very difficult to win this competition with two losses. Joeys found that out last year, and they will be looking to eliminate Scots by registering their second win in a row. I think they will be able to do that. I note that the Joeys 1sts and 2nds are playing later in the day at Riverview so this could be a quieter crowd than usual on SJC #1.
Joeys by 10.

Kings 3rd XV v High 1st XV (1:00pm on JS White Oval)
Kings opened the competition with a strong win over Scots at Bellevue Hill and are looking the goods for this home clash against High who went down to Riverview in the first week. High have definitely improved from last year but are facing a very promising Kings team that should have no trouble notching their second win.
Kings by 20.

Riverview 3rd XV v Grammar 1st XV (1:00pm on Riverview #1)
After a solid win over High in round 1, Riverview have a home fixture against Grammar who struggled against Shore last week. I did not see the Grammar match, but they will certainly need to bring their best here because otherwise they will also be facing two losses on the trot. I think Riverview will prove too strong at home and are likely to claim a second successive victory.
Riverview by 10.

Good luck to all players for round 2 of the competition.

I believe that you should not float around and believe these false accusations about my glorious king Heamasi. He has been injured for the past 2 games and his dedication to the NEW Rugby program is second to none. He is back dawning the black and white wyvern this weekend and will not miss a game again due to league commitments.

And don't even get me started on these GRANTHAM rumours. He played every single game for new throughout 2020-2022, however he did suffer a collarbone injury where he had to get surgery on it at the start of the 2023 season where he missed the first half of the season and then played the rest of the season after that. Not once has Grantham missed a game for league and has never ever "removed" himself from the rugby program.

So before you go around and spread these false rumours you should really ensure you get your information correct and the forum would kindly ask that "school students" such as yourself stop being a keyboard warrior and only post valuable information rather than sharing false accusations.

This has really grinded my gears and I believe BOMBER06 should be banned for life.

Thoughts?

Fair enough. I read the Grantham thing online. I guess I should remember not to believe everything one reads on the internet.

This was where I had read that comment on Grantham.

yes I do understand where you are coming from, however this relates to Grantham pulling out of GPS selection in 2024 to focus on his school rugby and league. He never once chose league over union to miss school games as Newington would never allow this given his scholarship.

Laughable honestly. There are tons of players across the GPS who have committed themselves to league. The exposure the school gets from these league players when they play is enormous. I for one see these boys' schools brought up many games in the NRL, especially near when the debut. Casey McLean or Tolu Koula or Kaeo Weekes for example every time they do something special they say that he was "A product of Newington College". I'm sure these boys missing 1 game is worth the exposure the schools get for their old boys playing at this high lev
last I heard GPS schools aren’t struggling for enrolments, they probably don’t need the exposure and if the headmaster has his head screwed on he wouldn’t want that kind of exposure.

understood - the article lacked a little of that detail. All cleared up now.

How is the 2nd's comp looking this year?
I believe joeys are a very strong team in the twos comp but scots are underdogs. Although they had a loss against joeys, they have a strong mentality towards not only working on individual skills but also as a team. I am keen to see how they play against Newignton. Fun fact i used to play 2nds "back in the good old days".

Still bit salty Scots 10 was better than View 10?
haha... props to you "rushing-rob" i got a good kick out of this. Bowen is now starting in the waratahs... whats McCullen up to? as a scots oldboy I would assume he has likely developed what doctors at Royal north shore are calling 'scots syndrome' which is an amplified version of 'Napolean syndrome' more commly reffered to as 'little man syndrome'. whilst scots does not produce many wallabies, they do produce men with superiority and insecurity complexes like they are a factory.
