Whatever floats your boat. I was just pointing out that the pubs and clubs are closed those two and a half day's of the year unless you're a casino.
I'm happy for the Easter break, religious significance or not.

Spam noodle I wasn’t having a crack at you mate I was just expressing my views even if they are a little Christianity biased. I appreciate that we live in an ever increasingly secular society. I have no problem with Super Rugby/NRL/AFL playing over the Easter break I just don’t think it needs to filter down to the levels below that.

Anyhow looking forward to this weekend’s games with 3 exciting matchups (Wst v Uni, Bros v Bond & GPS v Sth) and Easts taking on Norths for the first time at Hugh Courtney since they went down to Norths at the same venue last year.
Does anyone have some theories on how these will play out? I am predicting wins to Wests, Bros, Souths & Easts.

GPS big first home game at the new facilities. I reckon the custom branded urinal cakes and extra hot hand dryers in the home change room could make the difference.

Interesting statistic for the Souths v GPS game. Just saw the GPS line-up and note there are six players who have previously played at Souths, either in Grades, Colts or Juniors. Jacob Morrison, Jason Hofmeyer, Chris Kuridrani, Alex Casey, Jake Simeon and Moses Jones.
Should make for an interesting clash which I believe the Magpies can take out.

Moses Jones is one of Quades younger brothers isn't he? Big shame he left the nest.
I'm probably wrong but didn't Jack Straker play for the Magpies at some stage also?

why do you say its a shame? he wouldn't make the prems team.
He couldn't crack the prems team at sunnybank who came second last. I don't see how he cracks it at teams with better depth.
I feel just cos he is Quades brother ppl think he must be good.
I've seen him play fair few times and while he is decent, he's nothing spectacular. Probs a 2nd grade player.

I piped up on these forums when Quade started training at GPS during Covid, to me it was such a shock because he told Brad thorn a couple years earlier he was content playing for souths whilst still collecting his reds payday.
If Quade career closes with an appearance in QPR for gallopers then it would be a great shame, but If younger brother Moses wants to chase greener grass to increase his chance of stepping stone to a professional career, can you really blame him?
i would just warn Moses Jones about what happened with Veresa Mataitini when he went to GPS or Jono Kent when he went to the kennel. Sometimes the grass is greener when you arrive but eventually you get stuck in the lower grades cause there’s a bunch of other goats feeding on that same grass

Be interesting to see how many players that were guns in their respective teams go off to other teams but then end up in 2nd grade.
Mataitini was a shining light at Norths. Always part of the highlights for them .

A shame because he's a Souths junior. GPS seem to think he's good enough to have a crack from the bench.
He definitely did - he played there when ET and Buzz were coaching at Souths

I don't blame anyone for anything. I guess I'm old school, I like seeing juniors making the step up through the grades at their club, to me it's a part of ones identity. But no-one owes anyone anything. It's the modern world, do what's best for yourselves, everyone else does.

sometimes it’s beneficial - but you got to back your abilities moving clubs pick the right scenario.
look at all the 2nd grade brothers players who moved to wests and are now house hold names in premier grade (Usher, Dobbins, Skelton and now Werchon)

It's not a fuss. I just think it's a shame. I mean without people staying loyal to clubs there is no club rugby. The people who volunteer to make the club's run don't piss off for a sniff of helping at a more successful club. I haven't played at Souths for decades and only at junior level. I now live in the western suburbs. I couldn't ever imagine supporting another club.

Supporters and grade players make a club. Players and Coaches making move for exposure to prem grade and higher honours is good for them and the competition.
Shute shield uses a points system for players, to spread the talent around. SOmething like that for QPR would be good for the game.

How does rhat work? point system. Is this for contracted players.
I guess Sydney UnI & Randwick all start the season with 50 more points then the other teams cause still seems majority of players come out of those 2 setups
