Queensland Reds 2025

Doran is reporting we should get Lynagh and Wilson back this week with Flook back for Fiji.

De Lutis dislocated his wrist so he's gone.

Nothing about Wright or anyone else.
Good about Wilson and lynagh. Bugger about De Lutis. A fractured arm would have been better.

I hope we don’t rush back an underdone Flook. If his hammy was off da bone he would have been so limited with any type of training.

Id honestly rather the trio of Paisami, Dre and Daugunu hold down the fort for 2025 if it means we have a fully fit and firing Flook for 2026.

Id have him target the lions reds game or the exhibition game

Liam posted on IG of another post op recovery picture on his shoulder so that's him done.

Wonder why they didn't pull the trigger earlier? May have been right for the June tests if they did it months ago?

If they can get a couple of reinforcements back then I think the Reds have to back themselves to have a crack. This isn’t to say that they should rush Flook back at all but I think we have to have some faith with the medical staff.

How many ops is that now?
Honestly expecting the medical retirement at any point. Michael Morgan type stuff and he spoke about how bad the recovery is from a shoulder to get back to contact work and what a relief it was to call it a day.

BUT, 27 and could understandably have feeling about trying to get to a home WC. Whatever he chooses he deserves some good luck. Poor bloke has had more than his share.

Agreed. With the shoulder op, seems like he's got one more crack at it.

Great retain for the Reds to keep the form back who no doubt would have had some offers.

With Hunter signed through 26, Murray 26, Ryan 26, Pakeho is it likely Anderson not on the keep list even though he's been quite good. Flook also on the off contract list but I'd think he's a high retain target.

How does insurance work for a case like Wright's where he needs a new contract, but clearly has a "pre-existing condition" that would pose a risk to any team that signed him?

Does it matter if it's a contract with a team he's already playing with?

I can't really see anyone else taking the chance tbh until he's played a few games at any level.

If it's all 'fixed' as far as medical professionals are concerned and the S&C guys I wouldn't think it is different to guys that have done ACLs and what not.

His contract worth would just be a low base and filled with incentives if I was looking at signing him. You can't expose yourself to a guy who may not play or play only 50% of games. If he played in say 75% it triggers a bump which he'd deserve and the team has benefited from Wright being on the field.

I think they'll be hoping to keep Anderson but it will probably be out of there hands financially at this point - he won't be in line for a wallaby top up which means he's there probably isn't much room for a larger deal and he can likely get a good bump going overseas, particularly if he shows well against the lions. He is only 27 and just hitting his straps now though, so he could take two years to try for a few wallabies caps before he's done and still have room for a decent overseas contract.

If they saw him as a potential fullback that might change things - with Gordon retired and Campbell probably even money to go overseas there's going to be some movement there. Maybe someone like Murray or maybe Flook moving back to fullback more permanently will open up the space, but I'm not sure that's a great solution from a Reds perspective.

Yeah, you can do the mental gymnastics of how they fit but I could see Anderson being offered a healthy gig overseas as a ready to go starter in his prime. James Ramm type guy who is putting together quite the resume at the Saints.

Unless he's picked this year for the Wallabies I really see it being hard work leading into a WC when they will want as much continuity as possible.

I use to think Flook seemed like a 15 but not sure he has the top line speed. Suits being an organising Centre although he also seems to get banged up there. Bit of a classier Bryce Heggarty. Jack of all, Master of none. Give him a whirl at 10 and I reckon he'd go well.

Can't see him playing in Gold unless we have injuries. Equally will be disappointed when he inevitably leaves - but I feel confident that we'd find someone else. Feels like we've had a decent run unearthing talent in the outside backs - despite the self imposed torture that was Vunivalu

Ryan's been brought through well. Glad to see them stick with him all year, he'll be better for it. Others would have shoved him back and assumed age will just equal performance over time in games. You want to have the experience in the sqaud to blood kids though and not need them to perform straight away. Depth in the Centres though does give scope for Daugunu to push to a Wing and be a dominant force
