Or take a punt (and punt Taps and Turner to the pine)

9. Genia
10. Quade
11. CFS
12. Hunt
13. Kerevi
14. Kuridrani the Younger
15. O'Connor

Completely.

JOC (James O'Connor) is the worst recruitment we could make. Not that he is a bad player, but he brings mostly the same qualities that Quade already does, but in an outside back.

We don't need X-Factor. We need players that can execute well, follow a game plan and run a line off Quade. JOC (James O'Connor) will be busy running 30m side ways to step 5 people and go 10m forward and lose the pill because he's run away from support.

This is a load.

JOC (James O'Connor) is a world-class finisher when he is playing at the end of the line. He was one of our best line runners and finishers when he was regularly in the Wallabies and he hasn't forgotten how to do these things - in fact it's probably the only thing he does really exceptionally right now.

He's also one of the most direct running outside backs you'll find playing for any nation, anywhere. One of his biggest strengths was/is that he squares up to the defensive line and can step equally well off of either foot which makes him a bitch to mark up and allows him to hit the half-gaps he needs to inorder to break the line as a <90kg back.

I wasn't trying to say he crabbed. But he will go sideways if he sees an opportunity to go forward.

Anyway my point was more so he will play for his gain, rather than the team's.

Yeah agree re forwards. We have a bloke that is capable but need another one or 2.
The issue for me this year has been the backs. Set pieces have been very good. But the backs have lacked penetration

Guys, is their any actual rumours of Hunt coming over to you guys or is it just forum fodder?

Seriously, all I hear is you guys say 'if Hunt comes over' but is there anything pointing to this more than him being off contract, a Queenslander, and you guys having cap space?

Honest question.

Despite his problems, we need Justin! We don't have many good outside backs and the season is long. In the depressing situation we're in right now, we can't reject a top class player like JOC (James O'Connor)

There are newspaper and TV murmurings. Do they count?

. . . The Reds tried to recruit Hunt that year, McBain’s last at the Reds, when Hunt was a star fullback for Anglican Church Grammar. Now they could finally land their man, a decade after their first attempt was knocked back because Hunt was obsessed with playing for the Broncos.
McBain said if Hunt wanted to reclaim his star status he had to “follow Folau” and resume his career in rugby union, where his slim-line body could flourish.
Hunt wants to stay in south east Queensland, meaning his options next season are the Reds, Broncos or Gold Coast Titans. . .

Most would agree that JOC (James O'Connor) is a very very good footballer
Reds need a player of his quality
The challenge will be potential mis-behaviour off the field.
IF, he comes, am sure Carmichael will take a keen personal interest and am equally confident that JOC (James O'Connor) would realise that the "lifeline" is dependant upon performance, on and off the field

Just asking.

Is this all? It seems like a very long shot, very much a nothing piece of puff journalism.

I'd love for him to come over though, he showed more in a few weeks with Biarritz than other players have shown after years in the game.

When does Liam F Gill's current contract end?

With Bam Bam due to end his association with Team Rehab, and Hooper cemented in Wallaby Gold, there doesn't seem to be much chance of LFG in Gold for RWC 2105. An ambitious and competent player would be looking North seeing those two in front of him for the foreseeable future.

Can he earn a decent buck on the Rugby 7's circuit, and will the lure of Olympic Gold in 2016 be enough to keep him in Oz and playing Red part time when 7's commitments allow?

He could become our DJ Forbes - known only as LF Gill.

I've only read forum fodder. Some are saying he's signed. But it means nothing until it's announced.

Either way, he's going to need to bulk-up again it would seem.

As a large polynesian man he'd put on 5-10kg of good weight in a month or two just by thinking about it.

If the Reds sign JOC (James O'Connor) they should play him on the wing. It's clearly his best position.

JOC (James O'Connor) and others need to get past the fact that this isn't juniors and quality players aren't wasted on the wing. It's not like the ball never gets there and in a good team, playing good rugby, the outside backs should score most of the tries.

Hunt will easily regain a bunch of the weight he had to lose to play AFL. The AFL and Suns media has for years been commenting how hard he has to work to keep himself down to the 90ish kg mark. He'll certainly be a solid sized back 3 player or centre for that matter

Hunt was never a big league player anyway. He plays above his size.

Besides, if an amateur anglo hacker like me can throw on 4kg pretty easy, K with his poly blood should be able to look at a set of dumbbells and throw that on.

And failing that his access to professional facilities and coaching in S & C will get him there.

Hunt was a ver4y good schoolboy.
Hunt was an unbelievably talented and tough rugby league player

The fact is that he hasn't played rugby for about 10 / 11 years. The unknown (irrefutable at this stage) is how valuable he is / will be in rugby.

is Is he worth chasing with a fistfull of dollars or should we be targeting others ????
