For those asking about Bosch's kicking coach, I think in the post game interview he mentioned Braam Van Straaten who I believe has now moved to the Kings.

And here is a little bit of trivia. Back in 2011 he said that O'Connor would be one of the best kickers in the world.

Bosch mentioned his missing kicking coach and he has to train alone - Brause van Strasse? (Sorry my Africaans is non existent). Whoever it is, can we get him?

Let’s be honest / choice of Campbell as Reds’ lead kicker is a coaching indictment, extraordinarily poor judgement when you have JO’C there with better technique, far deeper experience and a reasonable history of clutch kicking.

I still don’t get the Thorn love and adoration here and never have.

Reds 1-5 and the one win was vs an exceptionally poor team.

Odd game with a couple of segments where some fans were starting to think about pride in the jersey - guess the recognised it with the response to extra time.

The ruck seemed inappropriately officiated to me - inappropriate, not unfairly. Straight bat for sure. Reds need to adapt. Similar with the Sharks rush D which often felt "how much can we go before the ball is played". Better get used to it, it's where we are trying to go ourselves afterall.

Scrum awesome to start with - and actually, lets be sensible, not bad with the early transition of players. But cant deny the scrum was owned at the end.

Line out wtf?

JOC (James O'Connor) taken out early, why did Stewart follow?

We played out with some strength coming off the bench but also a lot of the broader squad on the field for a lot of minutes.

We needed to have done more in the first 30. A territory game and a line out would help. But mostly sort the maul thing and get tighter and more clinical in the ruck.

Well done Sharks - awesome performance at the end of a long tour.

Hard to say, maybe JOC (James O'Connor) was carrying something. His ankles looked heavily strapped when his boots came off for an icing.

What it does speak to is the value of specialist kicking coaches and lots of practice.

O'Connor has kicked one goal in the last 5 years of his career. He pretty clearly doesn't want to do it

Hahaha - you know that for a fact do you - or just don’t want to recognise the incompetence of anointing Campbell - even the most generous interpretation is that he’s ‘high risk kicker learning on the job and thus could easily lose the team games with missed kicking points’.

Ahhh, yeah. He kicked one goal for Toulon in 2016. Hasn't kicked a goal for anyone since. Multiple ankle reconstructions since then.

He always travelled with the Sharks so I am not surprised Bosch is missing the coaching and support.

On a side note Van Straaten is lovely guy and the Sharks players really looked up to him. We stopped on the way out of a Brumbies game one night as the Sharks were boarding their bus. As we were getting some autographs, a couple of the players want and found Van Straaten and proudly brought him over. It was like they wanted to show off their Springbok coach. He talked to our boy (and us) for a few minutes which was fantastic.

Also on that front, much like Wessels, I think some hard questions will be asked depending how the season goes. There was always a need for leeway with such a young squad but I think there will come a point. Still a lot of games to go so still hope they can turn things around.

Unfortunately for Wessels I think he has less excuses with some of the talent he's had.

He stopped kicking in 2017 at Sale. Not sure why or if they just had a better kicker.
