Outside of Jordan, are our hookers that poor at throwing or is the lineoute unit as a whole at fault?

With the current selections of Porecki and Matt, you don't see that often a not straight call but more, the opposition reads where the ball is going and gets up.

Picking where the throw is going, surely, is primarily about the set up and the calling.

No their not. I was just using it as an example of a position with an assumed job.

Think the throwing has got better/Porecki is fairly consistent which I think has got him the starting job relatively un challenged.

Aside from Frost this is our best possible pack and Arnold is no chump. Georgia‘s strength is up front. We should be able to get on top there reasonably easily.

Lineout throwing is not really something that you can let anyone do because it doesn't translate to a team structure and the players not being the same all the time.

Goal kicking is completely independent of other players so there's no reason other people can't excel at it and do the job. Generally your fly half is going to be a good kicker though and as it's a role so often associated with the position it would be foolish not to work hard at it. In other positions, unless you're exceptional it probably pays to spend your extra time training something different to get an advantage.

Ryan Lonergan is probably a good example here. He's a great goalkicker but he's struggling to crack it breaking into the test side. Even with a shortage of good goal kickers it hasn't really helped him. Would he be better served spending that time trying to improve another area of his game or his conditioning?

Perhaps move to 10 or 15.

I've never been a huge fan but Lolesio is sounding pretty bloody good about now.

I still think anyone in the front row could throw the line-out and it wouldn't interrupt the structure, or even a non-jumping backrower.

Except it clearly does because your hooker needs to learn and train the prop's job as a lifter but also train being the lineout thrower because they will have to do that if the particular prop who throws isn't on the field.

A lot of negativity here which isn’t surprising. Eddy has chosen a team from ‘his’ selected 33 to win this game. He’s the coach and it is his team. No one has been ‘dropped’ from the match day squad, rather more, the coach is using what he sees as the best 23 for this particular match. Relax Eddie haters and barrow pushers. Get behind your team and cheer them on. They will all give their best for their country and I suspect win this game reasonably comfortably. Then it is a reset and new 23 selected for Fiji. It’s going to be great this tournament. Enjoy it everyone.
