Cooper wont be in the squad for the same reason Hooper and Palu won't be. Few clues in the rays thread. More possibilities and I understand these players could end up playing for their super aligned team.

Smiler (Norths/Brumbies), Dowsett (Norths/Brumbies) Walton (Norths/WA)
Morrison (Norths/WA)

Tuatara - Morrison is with Easts now I can't imagine Dowsett would come back to sit behind Holmes, Lucas and Swanapeol.

Brumbies and WA especially I think will look to keep the Super squad players intact.

they're only allowed a certain number of super rugby players in each squad (16?) so some will have to move on. A smart super rugby club may choose to align with an unaligned (no super rugby team) NRC club and split their players to ensure that they stay together. Brumbies and NSW Country would seem a natural fit, though not sure if easts and Randwick involvement would scupper any such arrangement.

Anyway, this is the Magners Shute Shield thread 2014 not the Rays NRC thread so maybe move the discussion on which players should be selected over to there.

I'm guessing on 2 but would like confirmation before mentioning names, and info yet?
I have new information. Rebels have backed out of the bidding war. They couldn't match the dollars on offer to play lower grades for the Marlins or Students. My prediction is that Uni 3s and Manly 3s will secure one player each.

Your intelligence behind the post????

Manly and Uni obviously have the intelligence to manage a P&L and a balance sheet. In actual fact in case you are unaware a lot of clubs are now putting in good practices with regards to their financial

As a manager of a 4th grade Manly player fielding offers from Uni I can advise all GAGRS that the Rebels offer of $35,000 base plus $1,000 run on and winning bonus plus rent just can't compete with the wealth of the Marlins .

Fast fact: 16 of the 23 players in this weekend's Wallabies squad came through the Shute Shield. It was the same with last week's team. Congratulations to NSW Rugby and the Sydney Rugby Union for continuing to produce outstanding talent. May the National Rugby Championship strengthen the production line further.

Awesome stat, and why the best should be returning to their clubs if not playing super. The players should be exposed to quality rugby if we are to compete at the highest levels.

Super players playing rugby in inferior comps is wrong.

Love HJ's stats . Manly v Uni GF but I always rate defence and so does Warren Ryan . "Quitten' time! "

PC gone mad.

I don't have much time for mungoland but that is ridiculous. It is (or at the time was) OK for the Chaser team to portray a fellow media person on TV as a dogfokker, yet Wokker is in deep do do for quoting licherachewer to mungolanders.

Well, as a mate of mine living in the US said when reading the story on my Facebook page: its all very well to justify saying it by reference to a 1939 movie but the game he was calling wasn't taking place in 1939.
And I thought to myself.....hmmm....maybe that's it.
I must say HJ I do not consider myself PC but what he said is indefensible:

^^ The actual sound tape is different to what was reported in the paper. The quote was OK but not his preamble.
