There used to be a few at the old Eastwood Oval, when I was a snotty-nosed kid: when we won!
Most seasons we were stone motherless last. A win against Parra was an occasional highlight.

While we all want to win every game - whether it's Parramatta or not, I think most rugby supporters have a bit of a soft spot for the Two Blues. Going back to my junior days in the 70s, my junior club played an annual preseason trial against Seven Hills and Manly reps played an annual trial against Parramatta. They were always hard fought matches and Parramatta juniors were really strong in those days - we lost as many as we've won.
As a player, coach and supporter, I've always found the guys from Parramatta to be great competitors. Unfortunately they had a bit of a decline, but they seem to be on the way back. They've been around since the 1800s and part of the Sydney competition all the way back to the start. I guess many of us older rugby supporters have an affinity with Parramatta that we just don't have with Penrith (not meant as a shot at Penrith - just the way it is).
For most of us I guess, they're our second team.

Eastwood to beat Parra... just... I think Parra will keep it close and take the lead in 2nd half before Eastwood come back and put on 10-15 straight points and take the spoils.
Souths to beat Gordon. Souths were lucky last week, I dont think this week they will let Gordon come as close to a shock. Im expecting a bit of belting. 15+
Warringah home win vs Randwick - a lot of changes in the Wicks team. I think the rats will sneak home by 3
Uni to beat Norths. I think this will be close. But I think the boys will pull through at the end. Thinking scoreline 25-15 or something like that.

Although those of us who operated coaching lower grades, couldn't always be confident that all our players would turn up to the right ground at the right time.
I recall back when GPS systems just came in, standing at Granville warming up 12 players. A call to the boys found them caught in traffic on Parramatta Rd. Their GPS sent them over the Harbour Bridge, up George Street, down Broadway and along Parramatta Rd. Obviously the programmers of the GPS had used one of Lachlan Macquarie's maps. They jumped out of their car, in paying gear just as we ran on. Memories.

I should add (removing my totally unbiased Wicks hat) that the Pirates were their own worst enemy. They clearly have significant potential and really challenged the Wicks who didn't get on top until the last 15-20 minutes. However, the Pirates lacked patience and leadership when scoring opportunities were created and organisation in defence. Not sure of the average age of the team, but they reminded me of the Wicks 2 years ago. They'll get better if the coaching staff can keep the team together.
