Is the finishing order likely to be 1 City 2 Griffith 3 Waratahs 4 Aggies? If this is the case will this mean that Waratahs will have to play Griffith at Griffith in a semi final? Blacks really pumped Waratahs last time they played up here. If Waratahs were to finish 2nd Lindommer’s $2.40 looks good considering Waratah’s success over both City & Blacks at Conolly. If Waratahs have to come up here to play a semi surely $2.40 isn’t generous.

The big 3 now seems to be Blacks, City & Waratahs. The landscape seems to have shifted at least a bit recently. Before this weekend’s City & Griffith game are Bubba, Whistle & Mauler (or any other interested persons) willing to frame a betting market re 2022 winner. I reckon City $1.70 Waratahs $2.40 Griffith $2.70. Is my price for City too long?
on the scenario that all Teams have their best players available (Which we know doesn't happen very often) I would back Wagga City at $1.70 and even take $1.50. I have always thought that Griffith will be City's opponents on GF Day and despite Waratahs registering a good win over City a couple of Weeks ago I am sticking to this prediction.

Whether Griffith comes 2nd or 3rd on the Ladder will be determined by their result against City tomorrow. Waratahs currently have a 4pt advantage over the Blacks on the Ladder but they (Waratahs) have only 1 more match to play against CSU on August 13.Griffith play City tomorrow and then travel back to Wagga to take on Aggies tomorrow week and then have a Bye in the final Round of the Comp.
If Griffith win tomorrow they will have plenty of incentive to travel to Wagga the following Saturday as a win against Aggies will definitely seal 2nd place on the Ladder and 2 bites of the Cherry and a guarnteed spot in the Preliminary Final which they host if they lose to City in a major semi.
Remember if Griffith happen to win their Major semi against City they would host the GF on Sep 3 !!
If Griffith lose tomorrow I reckon they will concede that they have lost their opportunity to come 2nd and will probably travel with light numbers and lose to Aggies knowing that they will almost certainly face Aggies again in a minor Semi Final on August 20.
Remember that earlier in the year Griffith lost in a big upset to CSU when they travelled to Wagga on consecutive Saturdays. That loss against CSU (14-15) in Round 5 has come back to haunt Griffith in as far as their pursuit of a major semi spot this year.
It's a massive game for Griffith tomorrow at Conolly with plenty of implications for them and the Competition.

City over Griffith . Griffith seem keen to host a GF but I'm certain City will be out to deny that. City 13 +

Tumut to give Reddies a thumping up at Jarrah . 13 +

All the chat is about Griffith at the moment - remember City has only lost one game and wont be going into this game lightly . We are pretty keen on hosting a GF ourselves !

At least the Chat has changed from talking about the BYES in the Competition to some of the Teams in this year's Comp

and looks like they had a good win over Griffith 29-10
Tumut lost to CSU in a big upset 15-24
Griffith had City’s measure at scrum time and defended well.

City’s line out was better than Griffith’s. The City outside backs were the difference in that game.

Two late tries to City blew the score line out a bit, Griffith had every opportunity to score in the second half but couldn’t convert pressure to points and City did well to handle that.

Griffith can take some confidence out of that game but I reckon City will be just as confident with a win knowing they’ve got some players coming back into that team.

Indovidual accolades for me go to the Griffith THP, Vaea at Ten, Rory Sheard’s link play was top class as always, Peter Little and Noa Rabici were handy also.

Not sure either team can take a lot out of City/Blacks game. Neither team seemed to string many phases of play together. City should be concerned about conceding so many penalties. What happened when City had a player yellow carded & also received a penalty at the same time?

Some intriguing games from last weekend and a massive game coming up for a few teams ! So Albury v WAC takes on some serious dimensions now . Its simple - whoever wins plays semi final footy. Mathematically ( which is code for they cant make it but its nice to spin a positive) Tumut can make it if they beat City by 80 odd and Albury only win by 2 or 3.

Reddies would like to go out with a bang by beating tahs , but i cant see it happening. And Tumut would love to finish the season with a upset. I cant see City letting that occur. Either way we should see some cracking rugby played this weekend - if the weather allows it of course .

My understanding of the current 1st Grade Ladder is that Wagga Ag College are 3 points clear of Albury at present.
A Draw will get Aggies through obviously and if Albury win without a Bonus point all Aggies need to do is gain a Bonus point by either losing by 7 or scoring 4 tries or more.
I'm still scratching my head as to how Reddies thump Tumut a fortnight ago and then lose 60-0 to Albury a week later - were Reddies trying to play Aggies out of the Finals ?
City to win 1st, 2nd & 3rd Grade on the day of the Big Dance and the Womens Comp is a lottery with the likes of Griffith, CSU, Aggies and Waratahs all in the mix to win the decider on Sep 3

Aggies could easily have beaten Blacks last weekend if not for a dropped ball over the line. They should beat Albury. Having said that Blacks will not be playing this weekend while Aggies will have the advantage of another run on Saturday. I reckon that Aggies win this weekend and start favourites in the elimination final after that.

Once again the BYE situation of this year's Comp comes into play.
If I were Griffith I would consider playing most of my available 1st Graders against Hay (2nd Grade) this Saturday at Griffith so that they are match hardened for Saturday week against either Ag College or Albury.
If Griffith knock off either Ag College or Albury in week 1 of the Finals I reckon they are 'specials' to make the GF on Sep 3 because they will host the Preliminary Finals on August 27 against presumably Waratahs and will be too good for the 'Tahs at the Exies Ground

I'd imagine Aggies would be ruing the 5 points deducted for an unregsitered player against Tahs. Its made thier life a lot harder than was necessary thats for sure. Albury would not even have a sniff of semi final football other wise ! I think aggies could be right up against it with this game in Albury - they will need to be at their best to make sure of a win thats for sure.

Would you be fair in wondering if the young fella who was paying weekly rego is copping much grief at training ??

I think the reality of the Finals is that City/Griffith/Tahs are the three contenders. Albury and Aggies have done well so far, I doubt either of them will be too stressed if they don’t make the finals.

City will win in Week One, leaving Griffith v Tahs in week two in Griffith which will be a tough trip for Tahs.

It’s likely that City will play Griffith in Wagga for the big job.

I’m happy to eat humble pie if I’m wrong, it won’t be the first time I’ve been wrong and it certainly won’t be the last!

Last round ! 2 of the 3 games dont have real bearing on next week. But that 3rd game is going to be crucial for Aggies and Albury .

Reddies v Tahs - It could be a massacre or it could be a dog fight to the bitter end. I'm thinking dog fight myself . Reddies will want to make a show of it I reckon and drag Tahs into a muddy arm wrestle. . Tahs will be to good though 13 plus with a blow out at the end .

City v Tumut - Ditto for the above game ! We do have a few back this week so that will bolster the team going into semis. Tumut will be combative , they will push the city forwards no end. But to much firepower in the backs will see City home by 13 + .

Albury v Aggies - Not much riding on this one ! Win you play semis , simple. To be fair Aggies probably deserve to be in the semis - theyve had a good year under Tom Lamond. Theyd be ruing the last minute loss to Griffith and the registration mess against Tahs. Albury have hung in all year - theyve had a few very tight losses and missed out on the rub of the green at times. My heart says Albury but the head says Aggies. Aggies by a late drop goal !

City are supporting a mental health and well being round this week - very topical given recent developments with Michael Hooper and the tragic circumstances of Paul Green of NRL fame . There is no shame in talking to your mates . No shame in reaching out. We have enough issues in our world with out the needless loss of loved ones.

Thought for the day - the GF would have been played and won and preso night had if we had not had eleventy first grade byes !

Ag College scape into the Finals with a nailbiting 8-7 win over Albury yesterday.
City to host Waratahs in the major semi at 3.30pm at Conolly and Griffith will play Ag College at 1.45pm
Well done to both Ag College and Griffith in having all their 4 Teams competing in the Finals next Saturday - Good Luck !!

Looks like some good Finals (hopefully some of them are Streamed) this Saturday according to Rugby Explorer
1st Grade- City v Waratahs (major semi) at 3.30pm & Griffith v WAC at 1.45pm - both on Ground 1
2nd Grade- City v Griffith (major semi) at 11.05am on Ground 1 & WAC v Hay at 11.15am on Ground 2
3rd Grade - City v CSU Reddies (major semi) at 9.40am on Ground 1 & WAC v Griffith at 9.50am on Ground 2
Womens- CSU Reddies v Griffith (major semi) at 12.40pm on Ground 1 & Waratahs v WAC at 12.50pm on Ground 2

Well done to City for winning 3 Minor Premierships in the Men's Competition and the same to the CSU Reddies on taking out the Women's Minor Premiership
I hope you get good weather this Saturday

Everyone has City over the line as premiers. Maybe $1.25 betting proposition. Most people don’t have Waratahs as even making the GF. Last time they met Waratahs beat City. Everyone has Blacks winning on Saturday. Last time they met Blacks won but arguably the result could have gone either way with Aggies bombing a certain try dropping a ball over the line. Should be a good day of football on Saturday but surely outcomes aren’t as clear cut as what pundits are predicting. By the way would anybody take $1.25 City to win the premiership at this earl stage.

A couple of injuries from last Saturday to some key players won't help Wagga Ag's cause against Griffith in their Elimination Final this Saturday.
Griffith will edge their way to victory in the 2nd half.
Personally I would take $1.40 on City 1st Grade to win the Comp and $2.50 on Wagga City winning all 3 Men's Grades
You never know but Griffith might feature in all 4 Grand Finals at Connolly on Sep 3
Bring on the Finals this Saturday
