Yeah it's funny reading the comments. I didn't actually think the Waratah's were entirely as awful some people seem to be making out or the Rebels entirely as great as others. Both teams had some good elements and things they'll look back on in review and be unhappy about. That game could have easily gone either way pretty easily, though to be clear, the Rebels deserved the win.
For the Waratahs, I thought besides Holloway, Gleeson, Foketi and Nawaqanitawase which some have mentioned, that Sinclair had a reasonable game. I continue to be impressed by the consistent growth in his game. Seu also doesn't look too bad.
I agree with the general comments about Perese, he hasn't returned to form yet and Nadolo is not fit enough to warrant his supposed punch. I'd much prefer to have Pietsch back and agree with someones comment about it being a shame we let Ramm go (or didn't try harder to hold onto him). I think the Beale situation has really caused a headache for DC this year, more than predicted.

I only watched the Stan Mini Match, but Seu featured in almost every highlight.
Rebels played more effective rugby and deserved their win.
The Tahs are still showing little cohesion and a game plan that doesn't seem well thought out

You don't see any value to a short passing game?
I think there are some execution work ons, but it's become bread and butter for many teams around the world breaking down defensive systems, especially rush style defenses that many employ.
The cohesion also doesn't entirely make sense either as there is so much core that is the same this year as last. I just think some players arn't where they have been or need to be.
For me it's the breakdown that is still such a work on compared to other teams and their transition work which seams to be stressing their defense. There was some decision making also that looked a little fatigued because there were opportunities to be had in that game.

No, the Tahs really shouldn't have. They were clearly outplayed pretty much all game. To lose by only 7 was as good a result as they deserved.
It is a nice to have as a weapon
It loses it's value when it used every time, like anything
It loses value without the maxim "don't f*ckin pass it to someone in a worse position than you" stamped on every players forehead
It loses value when it limits player ability to properly cleanout because they are too focused on catching another short pass

Yes, like I said, some execution work ons, but it doesn't mean it doesn't have value. They'll refine their approach. I could see some sense to it for this game, some big boys in that Rebels team, but the execution and decision making as you bemoan was a little rough at times. I also think if you go back and watch the game it wasn't used to Ill effect as much as you think.
Some of the off the ball work was just poor in places and often was a byproduct of some poor breakdown work. That first try to Hodge, you could see how compressed the Tah's defence had become after they'd overcommited to a ruck and how poorly their defense slides/realigns, plus the jink in the line that forms due to Gleeson pressing up. Add to this Perese struggling (he got himself caught out a few times in this game). Sinclair was the only one who worked hard. He's facing up as I think 3rd or 4th man in the line from the ruck to the right of the field but ends up the only player sans a lumbering Nadolo and a chasing Donaldson putting in any effort to track back.

They can’t leave their feet and dive on him. But they can make contact which means, at that point he has one dynamic movement. If no one does that and the original contact isn’t deemed a tackle he can crawl, roll or do the worm down the field if he is so inclined to my understanding of the rules.
I assume he was deemed tackled in which case I agree he can’t propel himself forward. I just didn’t think it was a tackle under the laws.

Rebels were pretty good, probably unlucky not to win by more.
As a Tahs supporter, a pretty disappointing game. They continue to give away more penalties than just about any other side, I don't see why they can't fix that, are they just stupid or what? That should be one of the first things DC should be drumming into them. And just concentration generally, concentrating on throwing an accurate pass, catching the thing, looking at what's going on to see where you should be in defence.
Individually, I question whether Holtz is fit enough, he seems absolutely gassed after 15 minutes. Both Swinton and Perese are really battling to get back to where they were, perhaps a couple of weeks coming off the bench wouldn't hurt either of them. Edmed has plenty of talent outside him, he just doesn't seem to know how to exploit it, I hope Harrison had a good hit-out for the A team. Nadolo is just passed it, a bad buy.
On the positive side, the set piece worked well, both scrum and line-out. And when they did get rolling, they are seriously dangerous, the Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) try was a thing of beauty.
Individually, Lambert again got through a mountain of work, Vailanu has got a great motor, while some here are bagging him I thought Hooper was good, maybe not the spectacular stuff, just a ton of tackles and hit-ups, getting over the advantage line every time. And of course, Gleeson was explosive, gee he's a find! In the backs Foketi looked dangerous, and Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) just keeps improving with experience, taking high balls, beating the first defender, and threw a couple of great passes. I though Seu was excellent when he came on. Latu has so much ability, but it gets up my nose the amount of time he spends just walking around with his hands on his hips.
