DIV 4:
Dukes v Raptors - tho it depends who turns up from Dukes.
Saints v Renegades - might be our last shot at a win this year but we're missing about 4 first grade this week. Gotta back the boys.
Maccabi v Irish - Ladder leaders didn't seem to bring much against Berries except patience and discipline. Maccabi have that as well so this could go either way.
Convicts v Canterbury - Berries might be coming off the boil after that loss to Irish. Could be ripe for the picking. Have just seen that Convicts forfeited 2s so it'll be all-in.

Finals look like being Irish (1) v Dukes (4) and Raptors (2) v Canterbury (3)
Second Grade maybe Canterbury (1) v Dukes (4) and Raptors (2) v Renegades (3)

JEFFREY:
Merrylands v Combined Forces - forfeit
Kings v Sea Lice - backing the KOBs to do it at home
Burraneer v Oatley - shouldn't be much of a problem
Engadine v Oysters - the new boys to go undefeated minor and major premiers.

Top 4 probably Oysters, Kings, Burraneer, Sea Lice - the order will come down to the game between Oysters and KOBs in Round 7.

MELDRUM:
Savers v Covies - too much for the MiB
Chatswood v Balmain - stags won't have the firepower
Brothers v DY/TH - yeah too much.
Wakehurst v Mac Uni - Wakehurst can lock in a finals spot with a win today

Top 4 definitely Savers and Balmain for top 2 but order dependent on Round 7 match up for minor premiers. The other 2 are Brothers and Wakehurst.

lol that was our bad actually - we refreshed his record instead of someone else's via the back end. Didn't realise until Subbies pinged me last night.

No dramas with you guys. I just think it’s a terrible system where the player themselves are not in complete control of their rego. It should be password protected. It happens far too often, particularly with ‘higher’ clubs.

We're still having issues where some guys can't enter a phone number, and also if I'm forced to correct a player photo via the back end it doesn't submit it to the app for some reason.

So that's the end of our First Grade aspirations, after Saints gave us a bit of a lesson in cohesion and fitness. We were all over them in the second quarter but kept dropping the ball 5m out. One of their guys scored half their points and it is only pride to play for up against Irish next week. Two kicks go over in Rounds 1 & 4 and maybe the momentum builds differently. Oh well... next season...

On Saints: fucking great scrum and lineout, with top notch defence tho they got away with a couple of high shots. Give them a year or two to add a bit of depth and they'll start humming.

Raptors stomped Dukes which is a bit of a shock, until you look at the teamsheet. The Dukes were clearly missing a few from their Round 5 clash against us, including their massive, fit NRL Tigers trial player, and paid the price. Will be interesting to see how they go against Canterbury based on who shows up.

Maccabi looked sorely undermanned at home with only 27 players on the two sheets. Yikes. Irish stroll into the minor premiership with what will probably be a bonus point win over us, barring a miracle.

Canterbury conceded an early penalty to Convicts then got on with business. Had the numbers to get it done so that might just given them confidence to take it to Dukes.

All that said, for next week I'm backing:
Dukes v Canterbury
Saints v Maccabi
Irish v Renegades
Raptors v Colleagues

Which leaves our top 4 as
Sydney Irish (33)
Western Raptors (31)
Canterbury (20)
Alexandria Dukes (18)

Irish v Dukes could be a boilover
Raptors v Canterbury should go according to ranking

Raptors v Dukes final - backing the Raptors to do it after getting a reality check from Dukes Irish earlier in the year and taking no prisoners. Just hope we don't end up with more red cards as between them, these two clubs have 5 and risk being kicked out.

For Div 4 Second Grade I've got the following:

Dukes v Canterbury
Saints v Maccabi
Irish v Renegades - this is the only game that will change the finals makeup. Winner is in. Loser is out. Draw will ??? Actually if it is a draw then Dukes are booted as both Irish and Renegades move to 17 and Dukes aren't likely to get a point out of Canterbury...
Raptors v Convicts

Table is therefore:
Canterbury (35)
Western Raptors (30)
Renegades Rugby (20)
Alexandria Dukes (15)

Canterbury v Dukes should be a fairly easy result
Raptors v Renegades will hopefully be a lot closer than last time!

Canterbury v Renegades final - RENEGADES TO WIN THERE I SAID IT! ;)

Div 1
WAVES vs Knox - Waverley to keep Knobs from recording their first win of the season.

Div 2
HH vs Robs: Hunters Hill to win with a bonus point.
HILLS vs St pats: Crucial game for St Pats if they want semis footy but cannot see them getting over the big HILLs boys
BOBS vs unsw: A must win for both teams, a lose for UNSW ends their finals hope.
Lindfield vs EPPING: The RAMS to keep old soldier at bay in a high scoring encounter.

Div 3
Briars vs HV: The winner here will lock in 4th spot for the semis. I think HV will want it more.
Blacktown vs HARLEQUINNS: A Quinns win here can keep there semi final hope a live, just.
Hac vs BEECROFT: A potential cricket score awaits
Iggies vs NEWPORT: Game of the year, two clubs flying high with the game not only to settle 1st place but most likely the club championships, although Beecroft will be an enormous challenge for Iggies next week.
1sts: 2 vs 1
2nds: 1 vs 2
Colts:3 vs 1
3rds:1 vs 2

A huge day awaits.

My tipping has gone to shite. 5/9

Some good wake up calls for Newport at Iggies yesterday.
A solid win for 1st grade with only 14 men for half a game sees them lead Iggies by 28 in CC.

Briars vs Quin’s this w/e will decide 4th place in 1s and 2s.

Div 4: 1 from 4
Meldrum: 4 from 4
Jeffrey: 3 from 4 - was not expecting a big scoreline against KOBs but there you go.

Am hearing that Combined Services only forfeited against Merrylands due to COVID. That sucks.

Still in disbelief at Subbies No crowds at finals. Why not introduce temperature checks and other risk mitigation measures like every other sport, business and pub has done and is doing as COVIDSafe life goes on. Where are sports administrators and leaders like Peter Vlandys when you need them.

Ahh yes, temperature checks - the sworn enemy of Coronavirus...

Community sports are limited to 500 attendees. For Div 2 finals as an example, 30 tickets per team across both fields is 600 as it is, not much choice really. And with the extension of the shute shield season there aren't that many gated venues available to host finals.

Especially those with enough fields. In order to fit in 2 Grades with injury time, Fourth Division looks like kicking off at 10.30AM at Wills Ground. How many 2nd Grade players who work Saturday mornings can fit THAT into their day? Particularly after a season of having 2PM kickoffs!

And then for those who *might* make the finals, what if they miss out on a shift when their team crashes out in the last game?

Who are you training to do all this, and where is the money coming from? How will standards be applied across multiple grounds for a full day running 8+ hours particularly if clubs/teams are coming and going throughout the day?

I love your optimism but logistically it is a nightmare, and Subbies is already looking at big losses this year without having to try and breach NSW Health requirements.

Where are sports administrators and leaders like Peter Vlandys when you need them.

Sitting on a sport with a mult-million dollar TV deal that needs content to make bank. Subbies isn't in *quite* the same position.

Considering we've been told for years that the finals gate takings are an important source of income for Subbies and that this is why only fields with a suitable fence are considered to host, the decision can't have been an easy one to make.

Not sure where the rules are drawn; just popped by Headen Park to watch beecroft vs iggies 2nd grade and there’s no covid Marshall, spectators inside the fence and in front of canteen, no registry. Sure have the rules in place but why bother if no one is enforcing.

Was at Newport and Before you got a wrist band that entitled you to access the bar you had to have a temperature check, register your attendance via the app and apply hand sanitizer. No wrist band, no beer or food.
