HAC in particular were struggling for numbers last year. Think Harlequins were OK but using Easts Colts - not sure that is sustainable.
Not sure about Hills going down but as BJT said above:
It would be a 2-horse race and that creates the danger of stacking from Round 1. Not that an 8-club division wouldn't have that problem either I guess, but a shellacking twice a year would be preferable to thrice.
Some form of grading system for grades would be an administrative nightmate across Divisions. Rugby League have grading but their squad system is much more tightly managed, involves a lot of money, and altogether reduces clubs down to win-or-die at senior level.
In saying all that I have said, I have heard Hills will not go down which would mean they are targeting a 6 team competition. It would still be a big ask for a few clubs to front up in that competition.
Subbies need to be firm. They telll Knox that they have been relegated and Hunters Hill they have been moved up. Simple. If Hunters email debating this then ignore the email. Send the draw out and that is where your playing. What can they do from there really?
Merewether took it out in golden point extra time after finishing the game at 12-all.Newport finished 2nd in the Mick Curry 7s. Newport were the best team there winning all their group games by 30-40+ and their semi final 36-0. Merewether fought them out in the final to score on the final play 17-12. Newport looked very strong and had a lot of talent though. I predict a big year for them and think they can compete with Hunters Hill.
Mystery club from point 1?Been keeping my ear to the grindstone and this is what the Woodsman has for you all:
1. Subbies is a sh!tstorm at the moment with lots of teams scrambling, however, one club that has been historically good is having a large revivial due to an improved relationship with their "Tartan-wearing kin". I've been told that they are making a play at re-entering from, hear this, Division 6 to Division 2.
Is this the confirmed structure?
Interesting Ned. Your 'official' email seems to be in Arial font...... Emails from the office of NSW Rugby are in Calibri......
