I would have him replace AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) not McCabe.

Completely agree on that. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) didn't do a great deal to cement his spot, and his usual no passing game was in evidence. Will need to watch again thought to be fair.

Come on cyclo. That was not the performance I was really expecting. I was expecting a statement. Ok, we won. But the manner was hardly convincing.

Based on what you saw tonight, do you really think we are seriously challenging for the RWC?

Hey, you can only play what's in front of you and this was the World Champs A team on home turf with a point to prove and a fucktard ref.

Yes, there's a gulf between NZ and everyone else, but what else is new? that Bok team would have taken care of just about everyone else going round for sure. You obviously didn't watch the Poms today.

A good solid win that wasn't arsey on RSA soil. I'll take it.

wow reading all these comments. I thought we got the bad end of a lot of calls but geez, talk about an over-reaction. We got the vital calls such as a scrum penalty in front of the posts. It was mostly 50/50 calls that were not going our way. I was shouting at the TV for a lot of the game, but most of it was just blind abuse. The ref didn't have much effect on our performance or SA's, those constant knock-ons and bad passes did though.

i dunno, was it just me, but we got pinged for a less then 5 m line out throw, on the 5m?, but the saffas threw one about 2m and got away with it???

Well, a tad hyperbolic. Maybe the first two, but not the last 3, I think. Although with France, you never know.

England lost, deservedly, to Wales today. Bluntly, England aren't great.

And you might like to take a look at the French team they have out tonight against us (we're still messing around, with about a half team out). Take a look at their bench. If that doesn't scare you... Well, bluntly, it should. A lot. Mummy.

The first 20 minutes was a little deja vue for me which had me nervous. The performance was not what we were all hoping for but I am thinking that they managed to finally get on top and will be coming home with a win. Their performance was an improvement over last week which is a positive and I hope they can keep building momentum. I saw a better performance from the forwards and was really impressed by the defense in the first half. Sure O'Connors kicking was still a little sketchy but in his defense it was blowing like a bastard up high.

hello green and gold forums.
since the all blacks are sending a B side to SA that will probably lose, if australia win tonight( which i think they will) the 8-1 odds on australia winning the trinations is super value IMO.
GET ON!!

good tip me.

Having said that I expect McCabe to get cited, which is a shame...

Always love beating a team that resorts to dirty off the ball play...

Next week:

Samo for Higginbotham
A finger for AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
Simmons to bench

Agree with those changes. While higgenbotham wasn't perfect he did do very well and along with an improved Elsom added a real physicality particularly in the first 20. However, samo still could offer more and higgenbotham would be very effective coming on with 30 to go. Mccalman looks gone based on those showings, however I would have either Robinson or hodgson on the bench as part of a 5/2 split.

Apart from AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), the only other performance that worried me slightly was Beale. He is doing plenty of good things as usual but seems to be overplaying his hand a lot. Needs to take a step back and take the percentage play more often.

What did people make of Samo?
He just seemed to bring a little authority to the pack. A couple of good cleanouts, dominant tackles and a willingness to get involved at the coalface. Higgers had an OK game but I thought Samo gave the backrow a nice balance.
He dropped that first ball and never had another chance to run with the pill in the open. Conditions from that point on were not great but we all know he makes good yards with the ball in hand.
He also showed excellent control of the ball at the base of the scrum.
I'm not getting too excited with our scrum. It was only dominant when Smit went to TH. I think they out pointed us before and after that.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Elsoms lack of ability to look for support when making a clear break was also disappointing. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) particularly who didn't even look to his left where Beale was looming up.

There were a lot of dropped balls by players so that didn't bother me too much about his game...

But he looked solid when he came on, and I would have him start next week...

At this stage I see him as our no 8 going into the RWC...

It would be great if McCabe could escape suspension because a McCabe/Fainga'a centre combination could be a cracker...

I'd love to see McCabe get a bit more ball though, but his defence has been excellent...

I need to watch the game properly, as I was live blogging it tonight and hence wasn't able to take it in as well as I'd have liked, but I thought Samo was impressive off the bench and has earned a run on berth.

And AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) really can't seem to shake the blues of this year. This was really heightened by Faingaas excellent efforts.

I think there's not much more that can be said of Lawrence's terrible officiating... but once again the assistant refs are not up to scratch...

Lately the lineout throwing by some teams has been going the way of scrum feeds...

The board is broken... I only typed 'assistant' there once, as noted when I quote my post...

That short and very crooked throw that the Boks got away with late in the match was a prime example. Very hard to believe it wasn't picked up by the refs.

Thought the commentating was absolutely woeful tonight, absolutely woeful indeed their observations on everything throughout the game was incorrect, and idiotic at times.
It has really been getting on my nerve for a while. Kearns seems more interested in trying to be a comedian than a specialist commentator and while I think that Kafer can add great insight to the game I am over his bias towards Brumbies players. I was absolutely shocked that he actually talked up A Fainga'a at the end of the game, if Anthony gets picked then a Brumby will miss out.

It is such a shame that on Foxtel you cant press the red button and get the South African feed
