Reds 2019

Whatever the failings of the ARU, surely they are entitled to expect Qld to share culpability for our lack of depth.

It's would be a bit rich to turn around and say 'not our problem'.

In any case, it is not in the Reds long term interests bring in a starting 10. A first class fullback maybe, and a back up, sure - but Stewart needs to start next year.

RA are entitled to expect nothing.

Serious question guys - do either of you ever complain on any of the Wallabies thread as to our lack of depth at 10?

Do you ever complain at the QRU losing its young talent?

Do you ever complain with the problems in Australian rugby that have been caused by the unwillingness of different parties to make decision in the greater good rather than self interest?

If the answer is no to all of them then, fair enough I guess, I don't agree with you - but at least your position is consistent. But, if not, I can't see how you aren't being hypocritical.

I'm not trying to defend RA.

The hiring of a foreign number 10 would not be in the interests of Australian rugby at the moment and it would be poor administrtation for RA to sign off on it.

It wouldn't be in the QRUs interest either and would be a cop out by the QRU to take some sort of moral high ground here.

Quite frankly, I couldn't give two tosses about the interests of Australian rugby. What are the other states doing to bolster the fly half's? We've seen first hand how good a marquee player can be for the development of young players.

Australian rugby would do better to get bums on seats so they can fund the development pathways we've been wanting.

I think you’re missing the point of my reference to RA.

Don’t they have to sign off in all Super contracts? Why would they do that for a 10 not eligible for Australia.

when we already have one in Canberra (although that must be close to changing?).

There would be none. Just pragmatism. It would certainly be an unearned "moral high ground" for RA to force the matter.

Edit: and if they played those games it aught accelerate the very real need for all unions starting here with QRU to oust all RA board members that it is possible to do so. With a new group demonstratinbg some interest in Aus rugby, you might give them some rope and accept a limitation such as the one suggested.

This current mob? Not a chance.

I heard that Gill is keen to comeback but possibly doesn't fit in with the news Reds off field sort of stuff? Just what I heard. Outstanding person and great player

Who’s likely to have the kicking tee for QLD this year now Lance has departed? Has Stewart been kicking for QC (Quade Cooper)?

Reds might need to find themselves a goal kicker, it stung them in that shootout with the Tahs.

Spare me.

Qld winning games is the best way the Reds can contribute to Australian rugby.

Winning breeds winning.

Gilly keen to come back to Oz by all reports. Will take a big pay cut from him however.

From recollection LFG was not exactly treated with great respect on his departure. It would be interesting to hear how that conversation goes.
