Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

Blaming the back row was correct

Are we talking about White's try off the back of that scrum?

If so, the people to blame are Tizzano, Tahs 9, and Dempsey in that order. If you need to blame more than 3 people, you've gone too far.

Tho it must be said Mark N (Nawaqanitawase) still plays like he's bigger than all the other kids in U20 land and really needs to stop that shit.

He is actually very very fast. I think Maddocks had a bit of an angle on him with that intercept - also he is no slouch. Banks could also have been keeping a bit in the tank given the score.

yea i dunno, i cant remember a time where I've actually seen him sprint and go "shit he has some wheels"

Feel for the Tahs and the supporters. I was expecting some pretty exciting things from them this year. I hope they can pull themselves out of this hole and get some respectable outcomes and improvements. Tizzano played well again, Moeroa got some good go forward and looked to get involved in attach and defense. Maddocks was pretty good as well. Really need to find some second rowers, I think they are causing massive issues for you.

It must be a tough start to the year with Reds Suncorp ..Brumbies GIO.. let's see how they go the next few weeks..

Meh. Not sure what NSWRU head office expected giving Penney a budget that can’t stretch beyond inexperienced rookies and journeyman. They have shot themselves in the foot. Nobody is going to tune in to watch the Tahs be flogged every week.

The Force will be pretty keen to remind people in Sydney they exist next week, I reckon. Might be another tough week...

The Force will be keen, but I would expect the Tahs to be very different next week. The Force won't be exerting the same pressure on the Tahs, and they will be at home. I reckon the Force will sneak a close one.

Rob Penney lamenting the lack of detail around the attacking structure and says Monday review will be brutal viewing. No need to go hard on the young squad as it will be more of a detriment and they need support.

The rolling maul issue could be addressed by having a TMO review of all tries from rolling mauls. I reckon at least half could be disallowed on technical law interpretation. Would go a long way to making rugby more exciting.
I'm sure most backs who rush to add weight to the maul are infringing by swimming past the ball carrier. Lolesio excluded.

Roger Davis hopefully our soon to be ex Chairman of the Waratahs made some ill advise comments when the Force were cut that probably read worse today than they did back then. Roger as you say in the article NSW grass roots produces the largest portion of players why then have we developed so few. Why do players leave the Waratahs and actually get better Will Skelton, Irae Simone, Angus Ta'avao, Michael Ala'alatoa.

NSW Rugby deserves to benefit from Roger Davis resigning.

Ah, I feel good. Went to the game and rejoiced in the demolition job, and then came home to read how the Tahs were actually the better team, played a more open, attacking game (FFS) and it was all on the head of Berry that the Brumbies got an undeserved win. Get real people.

Who said that? No one is disputing the Brumbies were the better team by far. It was a clinical annihilation.

Sitting at the ground (hard watching btw), I agree with his assessment. They really looked so lacking in how to crack the Brumbies. I don’t think they ever win that game, but they really didn’t make the most of the ball they had. For me the Brumbies weren’t even at their best, but just some simple structure and quick ball to compress the already struggling Tahs defence created so much space. You could see that early try to Hansen coming a mile away. Whilst he may have looked ok on TV, I’m not sold on Moeroa, seemed a little unfit and was a little lazy in defence verging offside often. Tizzano looks good, the White try aside and you could see that he was leaving it all out there.. Maddocks has a dejected look about him. Also those saying Banks looks slow, he does. I’m not sure that he’s got the same speed since he stuffed his leg, Maddocks easily ran him down. I like the look of Tane, I rated him in the SS and I think in time he could be a quality Super Rugby player.. there is potential scattered throughout the team.. just lack the older quality that teams like the Brumbies have.. we either accept that we’re in for a Reds style journey or they need to do some serious recruiting..

A brilliant display from the Brumbies in all facets of the game.
As a NSW supporter I'm gutted by the score and also pleased that so many of our blokes tried their absolute best. It wasn't good enough though.
I'm reminded of some Wallaby games against South Africa in the 1960's and early 70's when we lost quite a lot of the games but the Ozzies were great to watch because of their effort.
