Rule 1 for them is "Don't get beaten". How defeat is avoided is of limited concern. We tend to have an aversion to winning ugly, although there is a dichotomy between those who are only thrilled by flashy backline play and a lesser number who enjoy the hand to hand engagements of trench warfare. The latter are more appreciative of the rugby played in the Northern Hemisphere.

Absolutely correct, especially when it comes to England. They play to avoid losing first, then try to win. It's just how they are and I'm not going to criticise it. I think as an Aussie, I would rather see us take the game on and if we lose so be it, so long as we've gone down swinging.

This is still sport. It's not war. The fate of nations doesn't rest on it or even my bank balance. Sport is entertainment and I would rather see a good game of footy than 80 minutes of turgid spectacle. If we ever make it our game plan to win at all costs, I'm out.

I hear that the maximum temperature today in Leicester is a balmy 8°C going down to 1°C overnight.

It will be a bit of a shock for the lads except those who play for the Brumbies.

Just had my training session at school in surrey was a scorching 5°C and wet. Was like running in a paddy field.

Managed to throw in two sonny bill offloads today before skiving out of the ruck work and going for a kicking sesh. Being a 10 is awesome

I would like to see Quade throw his magic 15m backhanded offloads on our training pitch. That tends to be the reason why England play conservative rugby,1 because you cant run very fust in a mud bath and 2 because people drop it all the time if you try and throw skip passes

Kaplan is keeping Leicester in this. Penalty for a incorrect feed then marches them 10 then gives another penalty for going off feet at a ruck when the first two to the ruck were Tigers players who hit and went straight to ground....all within the space of 1 mintue

Would be nice if we managed to get the ball to hand for more than 2 phases without either kicking it away or losing it.

Also, I hate penalty goals.

Observer - ball dropped after lineout then burgess broke and offloaded to turner who touched down under duress. Lineout was on the 22.
