IMO Cam Orr is wasted at 1 - would have much preferred him at 4-8 given his capacity to run the ball and general mobility. But then I look at who they've got there and it's certainly Sydney's strength - Morris/McCalman combination is first class at 6 and 7 and Afele in his 2011 slimline mode has found his real position at 8 rather than the front row. What a future he has ahead of him if he wants it. Matson is the consumate workhorse and so much of what he does can go un-noticed - good to see the selectors aren't blind to that. Williams also has plenty of class.The weak link is the front row and they'll certainly struggle at the Nationals against Schools with Jarrod M and Matt Sandell at 1 and 3. Sydney have imo made the right choice however with Koutsoukis at 2 as he's quite a busy player.

The backs are interesting... Jones and Clarke are simply outstanding individuals who can both do absolutely brilliantly breathtaking things. Winterstein and Redden are also class players. I just don't know however that as a unit the Sydney 9 -15 can deliver the cohesion Country's and Schools backlines are likely to. Time no doubt will tell. Surprised George Taufu didn't get starting jersey.

Any comments on possible match ups with the Cockatoo's for the weekend's game? Use Dindongs starting 15 as reference!

Besides Sydney V Country on Sunday there's a couple of other good U16As games on Saturday:

GPS: Kings (apparently undefeated in all 2011 games) v Riverview at Kings
CAS: Trinity v Knox at Trinity + Alos' v Waverley at Alos'

Will no doubt see a few sore boys backing up on Sunday.

My gut feeling tells me league because league knows who he is (especially his regional NRL team the STG/I Dragons). Don't forget Tulloch was selected in their HMC team (eventual finalists losing to the Bulldogs 13-12 this year). They would have also been monitoring his development at Kings, and given the same I believe they (being the Dragons) would be salivating.

Steven Price will be at the helm of Dragons next year, and this man let me tell you, has a great eye for junior talent. If Tulloch continues to develop in the same fashion you can expect the Dragons to make a play for him a the end of his HSC. Better still one of his teachers out at Kings also happens to be the current HMC coach for the Parramatta Eels. What are the odds that he hasn't told Parra about the lad!

It might take an astute Ben Whitaker or Manu Sutherland to convince one of the Super Rugby outfits to offer him a scholarship before league makes a play; that is of course if rugby wants to keep him!

The lad reminds me of a young Ricky Stuart for some reason (when Ricky was playing in the U/21 Australian Colts team).

May depend too what he's looking to do career wise post school as I think rugby can probably offer him a better tertiary education path scholarship and otherwise than league. Looks like in any event that rugby will be the recipent of his unquestioned talent for at least the next couple of years.

what are the key match ups for this weekend SYD VS COUNTRY

It is a tough game to pick, Country played extremely well in the regional carnival before dropping their bundle at the final hurdle against the barba's and they have had that time together to form some good combinations. Time playing together cannot be underestimated. I believe they also had a tour of Victoria, however I am not sure of any results from the tour. Sydney will be having their second game together however there seem to be a lot of changes from the original side that played KG. I believe that it was individual brilliance that got them across the line that day so it will be interesting to see how far they have come since then. I think it is anyone's game and it just depends who turns up on the day and with any luck no members of either teams are innjured the day before in their school matches.

The match-ups that I will be looking at are; Hookers Koutsoukis v McNamara; No.7 McCalman v Mills; No.10 Clark v Andrews; No.12 Kagiassis v Tulloch. I do think Country will just beat City by one try but I am looking forward to some great junior rugby.

It i interesting looking at the amount of games together city, and even more so country, have leading up to the nationals. As I understand it NSW Schools has just one trial match against Sydney. They seem to have a pretty solid training timetable leading in but just the one game. I wonder if that will have any bearing?

Taking the regional Barbarians as an example, they definitely got better as the weekend went on and were perhaps a little underdone with their combinations in the first match when they had a great chance of knocking over western zone.

There was a young bloke at Trinity vs Knox today - played opposite current Australian Schoolboy - gave him as good as he got - the Australian rep ended his game early (in their 73 to 10 loss). This was his tenth game in first XV as loose head prop this year - a position he hadn't really played before - not too shabby for his years and one of many of the forwards who tore Knox apart up the middle today. He has excelled this year in the first XV for Trinity and improves every game and was asked to play No 1 tomorrow for Sydney due to an injury of a previously selected player.

Look forward to "the struggle" at the nationals!! I think he may have found his position as have SJRU an industrious work horse who doesn't mind a gallop.

Cam is a great player and I've always liked his work as a backrower or loosie. Good to hear he's making a good fist of the front row.

22 all. It was a very good game with Sydney taking the early lead and Country finishing too strong.
