I have heard this could be the lasr year of nationals and from here a 15 s and 17 s devlopment program put in place by the ARU

Now what will all these people full of self importance with themselves then????
And Newbie mind the language.....A gentleman does not need to swear to make a point!!!!!! From a friend I use with my own Lol

Fuck me! (sorry Lee)

Surely someone from the SJRU or NSWJRU must see the posts in this site! Take the hint guys! Better still if the associations need help (voluntary help even) I'd put my hand up!

It can't continue this way!

I think NSW schools and Sydney Juniors would be a fitting final. One of these teams are bound to make the GF, haven't seen the QLD team play yet. Should be a great contest

Heard the same thing RM from a ARU official - apparently there'll be national 15s, 17s run by the ARU & the SB tournament as per normal run by schools from 2013 onwards.............aligning more with/like the NZ system possibly??

After rigorous selection trials, the cream of Australian Under 16 year old rugby talent will shortly descend on St Ignatius College, Riverview to fight for the coveted Rod McQueen Shield. This tournament is an important stepping stone on the ARU Pathway to Gold, and, who knows, one or more of these boys may even be

Hosea pulled out of schools. Knee a little worse than first thought. Big loss!
I am sorry to hear that news, it is a real shame. I would have liked to watch Hosea go head to head with his main GPS rivals for next year. Jono Burke will do very well as the starting No2 for Schools. It is just a shame that he couldn't earn that entitlement with Hosea in the team.

Random, agree with your prediction. I hear that Fifita has been training really well. Schools have a great back row which, I reckon will be the best 'back row' as a group out of the whole tournament.

Schools only apparent weakness will be the backs (versus the strength of their forwards). I suspect their depth will also be tested as the selection process with Sydney Juniors makes the reserves to be 3rd rate (assuming the 2nd string guys were picked up by the 'other' team during the alternate picking process).

My prediction is these back three will be doing the majority of attack as well as mopping up the mistakes elsewhere. All three will be required to do at least 1.5x more work than rest of team (which they are used too)!

Some injuries on both Schools and Juniors as reported on this thread:
H Fotokava out - in ????
D Ballantyne out - in B Van Zyl (Knox)
P Olver Out - in ????
T Molloy out - in ????

With the final touches being put together, and all competitions now wrapped up, I wouldn't be surprised if there were one or two more boys (across all teams) forced out through injury.

Do not fall in the same trap as posters on the Aust Schools thread who expressed some surprise that certain "key" players were not in the team to play Fiji Presidents XV. There are 4 games to be played across the week, and not all opponents are of equal strength.

The competition rules require "All players from participating teams MUST start at least one game during the Championship".

Coaches will do their homework and work out who will start what game based on their assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the boys and their opponents. The Injury Fairy will also work their magic, forcing the Coaches hand as the week unfolds.

The first choice lineups for all teams may not be revealed until the Big Games on Friday, and in some respects these may be the best of the "survivors", with the depth of the bench being tested.

Random and George agree re schools loosies. Declan (ISA) in there at 6 or 7. Schools have picked a team of loosies with only the big CHS lad a specialist 2nd rower. Expect them to be rotated around for the week depending on what the coaches want,

Back when the sides were announced, on the NSW U16 thread, both Ferris and Gutteridge were mentioned by posters as being in the extended Juniors squad. Good luck to them.

Someone had their crystal ball working.

Injuries are a fact of life in a collision sport. Feel sorry for Olver and Molloy, but they will get another crack in Opens.

Cutting to the chase . . . an 'alternate' final day could have been:
Game 1: Qld Red v Qld white
Game 2: NSW Schools v Sydney Juniors
winner game 1 v winner game 2

that way we would have been guaranteed of the NSW thriller! which is what everyone in Sydney is really interested in, is it not?

Still could happen depending on Pool results, without the need for the extra game.

I don't see too much difference between the NSW teams, although the edge is probably with the Schools but not by too much.

The QLD Reds are traditionally the QLD first choice team, so Sydney being in the same pool as QLD Red probably have a harder journey if they are to make it an all NSW playoff for #1 slot.

I wouldn't write the QLD Whites off either based on feedback from North of the Tweed.

Then there are the Dark Horses from VIC and WA. I'm sure that none of them are coming to town just for a hair cut and Bridge Climb.
