He's a tough bugger wanting to play on. Redeemed himself from last week, at least to me.

Not much to say about the game. The game was pretty dull. You know its a dull game when I'm switching back and forth with the NBA.

The conditions made things tough. It looked really heavy under foot. lots of kicking and scrums. Things were generally played at a slow place.

One really nice team try from the reds was the highlight of the game.

The weather also scared the crowd off, so there was really no atmosphere compared to a normal Suncorp crowd.

Nevertheless, I'm thrilled with the win, we really needed it. It was in tough circumstances too, I imagine the whole team has a pretty unhappy week and the loss of JOC (James O'Connor) just before kick-off made things worse. But at least we can build the season from here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks an awful lot like an illegal bind from the force tighthead.

I've not been a big fan of Daley's scrummaging in the past but was pleasantly surprised last night. I wonder if part of the improvement was Thomson really knowing what he's doing on the side of the scrum.

And it's probably arguable that Daly's bind is under the Force THP rather than on his side.

Hey I'm ashamed to admit this but I haven't watched the game as I couldn't watch it live and now I don't really want to as you've all said it's shit. But could someone kindly please tell me how some players went?

- Did Browning get much game time?
- How did our locks go, in particular the debut of Murday?
- Also what about the young Campbell Magnay, did he look out of place or good to go?

Don't listen to the folk on here. It wasn't pretty Rugby but it was never going to be. Just watch it mate, I can only speak for myself but I enjoyed it.

But to answer your questions:
- I think Browning got about 20mins. Came on for Schatz and went well. Provided good impact.
- Locks looked good. McDuling used his big chunk of minutes well when Horwill came off early. I liked what I saw of Murday but I've been a fan of his for a while. Don't know how long he's been around the organisation but I assume not long. As he settles in he will get even better I'm sure.
- Campbell didn't see a lot of action (none of the 4 wingers did) but his involvements were quality. He certainly doesn't look out of place.

But yeah, just watch the game.

I'm with you Scoey, I thought it was enjoyable.

It's just nice to see the lads show some genuine ticker. We had very little right to win that match pre-game. That's the first time I have ever seen Lacy Turner kick goals.

Thought Thomson was a cut above. Easily my man of the match. What he will add to our pack, will see him become an honorary QLD'er sooner rather than later.

Shatzy played well, but I would like to see Browning get more minutes or a turn at starting @ 8. That is his position, and I think he will become the Australian Vermeulen.

Gill had his best game in a while.

Locks were industrious. Talakai was a rock, although I didn't notice him too much around the field.

Sautia had a more aggressive game, although still looks down on confidence.

Kurindrani looked dangerous, and is doing his darnedest to lock down a flank.

Magnay might not have done too much, but gee he looks assured.

Lachy Turner is abit like Thomson in the forwards, just adds so much experience and guile.

Good effort lads, made me and my mates proud.

I felt proud watching my team really have a dig. That's good rugby to me because I'm not a neutral watching the game, I'm a Reds fan and our boys faced multiple challenges and came out on top. I guess as a neutral I would of still said the Reds played good wet whether rugby. People with a fetish for fancy shit should stick to 7's.

I'm betting our crowd, which most people are suggesting was very disapointing despite the fact we had a cyclone head our way, is at least the 2nd highest on that list.

I reckon that Sydney would struggle to get 15000 to the SFS in similar conditions.

In context, that was a good game of footy in trying conditions with the major negative being the clown on the PA - WE ... ... ... ARE .... ... ... RED. The fact that anyone turned up at all suggests that THEY ... ... ... WERE ... ... ... RED and are 1000% behind their team. Good on them.

For the sake of normal people in TV land, can some clever foxtel sound engineer manage to isolate the Ground PA chap from the broadcast feed?

If the crowd want to do a spontaneous chant, then by all means broadcast that to the world, as it adds to the atmosphere otherwise IMHO STFU.

Tahs force was 20000 or so and I can't imagine any of the others being higher than 14000, so it probably was second. I still found it disappointing(the number, not the crowd itself), but that's partially due to higher expectations and standards I have for reds crowds. It was around 10000 shy of our membership numbers which seems pretty low for a derby, even given the inflation that happens to those numbers (which I'd imagine is less this early in the season).

Actually, Woody was a bit off with his "We Are Red" this week. Tried to do it at a slower pace but that made it too slow to chant with. Can't be all excited & get the crowd revved up with a super slow chant.
Was better than last season's music though.

I'm a big fan of the "We Are Red" chant, especially after a few beers.

I like the chant and I usually get behind it. The fact that non Reds fans generally don't like it makes me like it even more! You're going well if that's your biggest gripe anyway! #firstworldproblems

Chants can be OK - but, problem is, if no-one really takes it up, as it sounded on Saturday, it sounds contrived and a bit lame. I remember being at Suncorp a few years ago when the Tahs were losing to the Reds (again) and the (good) crowd was already making a lot of noise, and he kept shouting over the top of them to get them to chant - it was unnecessary, as the crowd had no problem making atmosphere! Even the Reds' fans sitting with me wanted him to shut up!
It's like a lot of these things - Waltzing Matilda became utterly cringeworthy, whereas it was great the first few times as a foil to the haka.
Now, for the utterly shite music they used to go nuts with at Allianz at every spare 10 seconds.........

It is desperate. Not a single person I know enjoys it and they're die hard reds fans. Saturday night was particularly bad. It's quite embarrassing.

It feels so ridiculously forced down your throat you could be forgiven for thinking Suncorp is in North Korea! If people want to chant, they will chant. Don't force them to. It will happen naturally when the team is playing well, there is a bit of feeling in the game and (more importantly) if they want to!!

For the record, I am also not in favour of the bozo at SFS using the Ground PA at about 130 dB to gee the crowd up with their - NEW ... ... ... SOUTH ... ... ... WALES chant, or at any stadium. As others have said it is lame as.

I like the idea of silently using the electronic scoreboard to rev up the crowd (IF they must), but the spontaneous chant from engaged (and enraged) fans is the best.
