what i liked about tonight was the final whistle.

apart from that hooper looks like he is playing far more defensively (not necessarily a bad thing), folau trying too hard for a pie, phipps has gone backwards and is way too loose.

the ref deserves to be fucking turfed for allowing that game to develop.

He can't be held responsible for the dropped ball and Reds trying to play from 10m behind the gain line.

The scrums were a mess, but I liked how he doesn't blow a reset if it collapses and the ball is already at the back of the scrum. He just watches and waits until the team plays it, which is how it should be if neither team has clear dominance.

I don't really think Frodo was the problem.

Carraro is a real goer , felt I was watching the Matt Hodgson of wingers , the game seemed closer ....the Reds game plan has come under criticism but hell the execution was the stumbling block , Genia seems to be trying too hard - and with stupid penalties , wayward kicks ...I was frustrated for the Reds . The Waratahs didn't cover themselves in glory either , an ugly win but Cheika will take the points and have plenty to work on this week . Why do I feel flat ?

On another note, Biggsy: should have been a Tah's scrum.
Turner lost the ball and it was either a knock on or we were in possession when the whistle blew to stop play immediately.
Dennis should have had a go at Jackson about that just so you could accuse him of begin callous.
Maybe we declined the penalty because, and now I am being serious, we made more ground when the Reds had the ball than when we did.

I suspect Campo could say the same thing about Martin.

Back to the game. I'm quite happy with where the Tahs are ATM. They're not playing their best, well, they're a bit crap TBH, but they're winning. None of us want our favoured team to be performing like champions in the first third of the comp. Scraping through while playing ugly will do me fine, until the business end of the season.

The refereeing was standard Jackson. He's a great ref when it's an open, one sided game where he doesn't have to make any contentious calls and can just let it run. As soon as one or both of the teams want to push the laws he retreats into his shell and becomes a spectator with a whistle. Reds and Brumbies supporters would no doubt still remember game 1 2013.

I haven't seen a backline standing that deep since the 1970s, by the time the ball got to the centres they were 20m behind the advantage line from set plays.

I reckon it was Chris F-Sautia.

He was up in arms with how bad he was after he just tried to run around Carraro, got tackled easily, Carraro got up to try and win the ball and F-Sautia just stood up to keep going without releasing the ball and gave away a penalty.

Play the whistle. The whistle goes just as Beale is moving in to pick up the ball.

It's professional sport. You don't decide to stop playing, the referee decides that.

He was coming from behind Dennis. He had absolutely no view of how bad the impact was.

This is nothing more than a cheap shot.

After a bit of reflection, I have to say that the Tahs game plan was in evidence last night, but the execution really let them down. Apart from Skelton, who I thought had a very good game, Izzy played with more intent and is starting to look like he's getting some form, and until the Reds woke up to the inside passes KB (Kurtley Beale) initiated a lot of backline incursions. Woeful handling set the Tahs back quite a bit.

Reds were just unimaginably bad. JOC (James O'Connor) was invisible at 15 and he's doing everything possible to reinforce my belief that the NH comps are a step below the quality of Super rugby. If this form continues he will be nowhere near the Wallabies later in the year, and quite rightly so.

Just waiting now for the Reds board members to come out and say Richard Graham is the right person to take the Reds forward and he has their full support.

In my veiw Its far from a cheap shot, and after watching the replay again. I'm more than happy posting what I said about Beale...

Also glade Poccock and Macaw don't play the whistle when players welfare is a concern.

it was earlier than that but its either him or tapuai.
Harshest call - whether justified or not - I had heard up to that point, but then Biggsy trumped it

You don't just play the whistle but there is simply no basis for thinking that KB (Kurtley Beale) had any idea that Turner was badly (is he?) injured. If you expect players to stop for things they might have seen we're going to be in trouble.
The Darwin thing is in a different league because he called "Mayday" so there could be no doubt.
I am one of KB (Kurtley Beale)'s harshest critics but i cannot believe this line.
