You are so right but then they have achieve the nr1 position already, been there done that wear the Tshirt. Winning the CWC is the next target.
I prefer test to one day cricket. Much more skill, better balance between bat and ball, and a 1000 mini wars between bat and ball. My son played good cricket and I had a massive problem with tthe youngsters coaching and values. No more "play your eye in before playing shots, no more line and length skill as bowlers". They get coach from early day to moer the ball as far and hard as they can these days.
You probably will understand this better if you played cricket.
If my body would let me, I still would. Although my left arm medium pacers were never much good and I rarely found myself higher than 8 in the batting order.
I too would much prefer to watch 5 days of test cricket than this new hit and run style of cricket that we are seeing now. However I can also respect that the game is moving forward.
When I see players like Clarke reject the riches of the IPL in an effort to prolong his test career I have nothing but admiration. While you may think Warner is a shocking ambassador for the game we both love, I find it hard to believe you can't find a tiny little bit of respect for the talent he possesses.
He could have had a long and hugely profitable career in the shorter forms of the game yet altered his technique so that he could wear the baggy green. The statistics speak for themselves and regardless of how you feel about him (whether that be because of the way he conducts himself on or off the field) he would walk straight into the Proteas XI in all formats.
I think alot of his attitude and aggressiveness comes with encouragement from the coaching staff. Compare our fortunes with Micky Arhurt to now. Lehmann was brilliant at the mental side of the game so it doesn't surprise me that we play an aggressive style of cricket.
