Correct if I'm wrong, but 3 of the kids not selected in Pink are Qld City rep players, I'm guessing they must of went ok last year to make it in?
I'm thinking that's a bit strange they are now in other regions/ teams.
I know of 2 players, 1 in Orange and 1 in Green. Both may have struggled to win spots in starting team. Pink team built around a repeat sold core group from last years Blue team with perhaps 3/4 key players adding the firepower.
I think it will be very evenly matched with all teams in with a shot. GC will be strong considering the winning Div 1 by a mile.
Anyone got ideas on City team in Under 14's ??

Looking forward to the "twelvies" joining in after this weekend.

So many predictions for all age groups above based on a pretty transparent bias against players and clubs not backed up by performance or results.....let the announcements speak for themselves.

Good luck to all of the players for the upcoming weeks.

I also note that for Harry Small's sensitivities that Rugby Spirit and myself who don't know each other from a bar of soap have 17 of the same players in the 23

That's close to a 75% correlation

Some transparent bias huh ?

Heard Gold Coast has been divided into 2 equal teams, tho I expect 1 to be still stronger and very competitive.
No idea on Qld city team, that's the selection committees job.

There is a boy in the PINK team that plays U15 div 1 at club level he will make this years "City" side, very good player - Probably need to take a closer look at the Souths team for more input and Albany creek. Backline looks huge with some real pace once you add in the boy from PINK

Don't know who the Iceman is but its just a prediction I guess he should not have entered any names that's the problem, I see you are brand new to G & G.....who do you think shouldn't be there?

Yep, new, it was mentioned to me last night people were on here talking about the State champs.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Pink have missed an opportunity to build a real top team, looking over last years team and the kids they didn't pick this year.
I see several of last years winning team have been moved to other regions, Why?
Don't know, but several of those boys were key players in that team.

Coaches were allowed to ask about players in other regions, I believe some of the boys were wanted by 2 regions.
In the end it might of come down to how each boy fitted in the team.
I would think no matter what colour they are in, they are happy to be there.

Thanks, I did a little of my own digging too.
Pretty much heard the same thing.
All the boys were wanted, and in no way should they think they were rejects from their regions.
People should be cautious of what they say.

Thanks G.O

This is my go. and what I think QRU will select based on form at the carnival.....Both pretty strong teams

1. Souths 8 - QRU Souths 8
2. Riverside 2 - QRU East 1
3. East 3 - QRU - East 3
4. GPS 5 - QRU GPS 5
5. Riverside 8 - QRU East 4/8
6. GPS breakaway 7 I think - QRU Riverside 8
7. East 7 - QRU Riverside 7
8. Ipswich 8 - QRU Ipswich 8
9. Riverside 10 - QRU Souths 9
10. East 10 - QRU East 10
11. Riverside 14 - QRU Riverside 14
12 East 13/8 - QRU Riverside 12
13 Souths 13/9/15 - QRU East 13
14 East 15 - QRU East 11
15 Riverside 12 - QRU Souths 13/9/15

Reserve
East 1
East 2
Riverside 6
Riverside 7
East 11
Ipswich 15
Souths 10
So Rugby Spirit has 9 Easts boys in his city squad and Gary Owens has 7 in his XV. If you both know the age group so well, you will know that the Easts side has been well beaten by Riverside and Nerang, narrowly defeated Souths and beat GPS by 1 point. Why do you think Easts will dominate the city side? Tiger eyes or other influences?

Totally agree Sunny. Been some interesting reading going on.
Selections are always going to in review with so many differing opinions.
Fact: selections start off geographical. Selections are viewed across all Divisions over 6 week period. Is it Sunnybank fault they are region end with Souths and or Logan, just how it falls. The next contention that can sometimes come into play is starting XV , coaches will the converse each other if a player will start as opposed to bench or being selected at all and ultimately if in all agreement if the player is willing to travel for training etc.... is when geographical goes out the window. Finally City Head coaches oversee if all players in contention are selected in regional teams. But with these processes in place it helps make sure we can try and get every deserving player possible.it grows tiring to hear selections are lopsided. Processes are so much more in play than what was in place 5 years ago all with in the aid of every player has the opportunity to be seen. Let's all be honest teams are selected in what coaches think will win a state title championship. It's not developmental its representative. It's really pleasing to see that their is so much more emotion behind this great event, and I for one am for kids having to earn there way through each step on merit. If everyone thinks City teams are already pre selected then they are kidding themselves. Everything will be based on form over the tournament that is fact. I wish everyone involved the best of luck in the up and coming tournament in what has always been the best junior rugby rep carnival in club land in the calendar year.

Also like to say best of luck to all the boys for the tournament.

Will be interesting to watch the U14 and U16 Northern Territory boys, always nice to get a visiting team.

Yah. All good points. The majority of my tips re : Easts were in the forwards . Reality ? I would probably cull two of the Easts boys, however , I originally had 75% to 80% true merit and 20% to 25% rep picks - kids who will probably get selected on name

On this score , I would cull 2 of Easts , 2 of Riverside and 1 of South

A lot of it depends how you want to build your team , for example , if you have 3 x ball runners in your team at Prop , Lock and 8 , then you really should be looking for the best pilfer / jackal type at 7 , even better if you have another one of these types as your other lock who is also an outstanding line out option and is a perfect counter balance to your other ball running lock . And then at your Prop you should be looking for a mobile dirty worker and your 6 should be a tackling machine around the pillars and in cover lines to complement your pilfering 7 and your ball running 8 who does it better than everyone else
