Do you know what is the background to him coming to QLD rather than one of the NSW teams?
plays 13 does he? That'd be his only likely option (barring injury), ahead of Toby White.

How do you pick props from GPS and sunnybank over the guys from Wests. Wow scrums mustn't be part of the criteria to pick prop anymore. The sunnybank props have been injured for most of the year maybe the Wests props should of had more time off instead of playing nearly 80 minutes every week against teams subbing props every 20 minutes. Congratulations Tim smith.

I thought the Wests looshead prop was one of the best in the QPR, but perhaps lacking in fitness.
I think they called him the Samoan Predator or something like that.

Perhaps he's a queenslander I don't know. But I suspect the Reds are interested in him, which I guess is obvious or they would not have given him an NRC contract.

I agree the prop from wests with the dreadlocks was outstanding for them. Also the outside center who I believe has itm cup experience. Maybe they can come over to GPS next year and will get a look in. Unlucky to some of the souths players who missed out.

Chucky Mullins was in the squad, recieved the call however has decided to focus on work commitments potentially moving inter-state.
Tela has jumped Feunati in the club rugby stocks and Gibbon will replace Parker. This Brisbane City team is probably lacking a little depth in some positions but that starting side is as strong as they come.

If Stiles is looking at a Kerevi/Hunt centres pairing does that mean O'Connor moves to fullback and someone like Tela is on the wing?

I like how the QRU is actually invested in the NRC (wish I could say the same for NSW), but I can't shake the feeling that Brisbane City is deliberately stacked with the best players at the expense of Queensland Country. As if City is a Reds squad getting trialled. Save for the Faingaas I don't think Queensland Country has better players in any position.
Some of it is down to the marquee players being in the Wallabies squad, but really, one of O'Connor and Hunt should have been in Country.
It feels a bit against the spirit of the competition to stack the players in one side.

I disagree. I think they actually moved players between the two to counter this. 15 Reds players in Country 16 in City and a lot of shuffling of 2014 NRC players. City might have more known douches like JOC (James O'Connor) and Hunt but the thing I love about the NRC is the absolute new stars that shine even alongside players like that - Kerevi, Stirzaker, DHP were all great last year and should have been eclipsed by known Super Rugby players but totally stood up.
I think both coaching teams are solid and the QRU is absolutely working towards and all QLD final - that is their goal.

Yeah it does look slightly stacked but i think some credit needs to be given to the players who either earned Reds contracts or greater recognition on the back of their 2014 Brisbane City NRC form, if you look at the proposed starting team above; players like Paraka, Talakai, Ready, Korzyck, McIntyre and White weren't contracted to the Reds in 2014 and none had played Super Rugby. Even guys like Kerevi(4 Super Rugby caps) and Kuridrani(1 Super Rugby Cap) were practically unknowns prior to the 2014 NRC season, it was their form in the NRC that earned them higher praise and secured their spots for the Reds in 2015.

Yeah. I think the other thing too is that it's not Qld "Purple" and Qld "White" teams for the sake of having some trials.
There's a bit of history to the team names.
It's City and Country, with the latter based out of the Gold Coast and backed by Bond Uni. The predecessor team was also the Gold Coast Aces which was fed by the Premier clubs south of the river.
So players with a Country background, or from the Gold Coast club (and nearby Southside clubs) are in the catchment for that team. TBF, the boundary might be a bit fuzzy or too far north at the river, but the City slicker players are also in the natural catchment for City.
No one bats an eye when North Harbour has it's natural catchment as the North Shore.
If the "Country" name is to mean anything then you want as many country-origin players as possible playing for that side. And they've tried to do that.
