I reckon McCaw does it on purpose. But he is such a sneaky bastard it looks like an accident.
A guy of McCaw's coordination doesn't 'accidentally' elbow another bloke that is essentially still in the head. If he wanted to he would have missed him.

Can someone explain what the ruling was when Franks (I think it was) entered the rolling maul on the SA side to win the turnover? I was thinking to myself 'wtf are you doing!' then we get a penalty out of it.

At the aftermatch interviews, either the producers, or FdP, were careful not to show the Elephant Man side of his melon. All done side on from his "good side", but that was one hell of a "growth" on his left cheek.

I really think that was a poor effort by the AB's, very encouraging if we make it past the Pumas. They have really suffered for having no real competition through the pools and finals.
Given the huge amount of possession the AB's had, the woeful general kicking from SA and the fact that SA never looked like scoring a try, the fact that the AB's could only create 2 tries in 80 minutes shows the damage done by their soft run.
Sure, the Bok's defence was pretty good, but it was flattered by an unimaginative AB's attack and odd decision making at times.
It was a stranglely passive game, I expected they might bash each other to a standstill, or the AB's run the Boks ragged and while the drizzle played a part it was an odd feeling game to watch.
It will be interesting to see if Hanson can get them to lift next weekend.

No, because the AB's were playing under advantage so the play that led to the intercept was played whilst they still believed they would get a penalty if it went wrong. It would always have been called back once the foul play was identified and the penalty reversed.

No he didn't. He got up and contested the next breakdown and got a big close up at the next break in play with no blood or visible wound. The cut happened later.
Scrum.com has Louw being subbed off at the 28 minute mark (back on at 34), about 6 minutes after the McCaw incident.

Yep, I'm watching the replay, and there was no blood after that incident. It's a nothing incident.
People criticising the way the game was played seem to have expectations which don't match the reality of a World Cup semi final played in the rain.
South Africa were never going to do much different. They played the style they were expected to and almost won.
The All Blacks made some uncharacteristic mistakes and kicked the ball away too much on attack. They would have probably been a bit more successful if they'd kept the ball in hand more in attack but it wasn't a surprising tactic given the match and conditions.
I think the Wallabies v Argentina game will be a bit more open tonight if the conditions are good but certainly not to the extent of Argentina's quarter final against Ireland.

I reckon it'll be no less open. It may even be more because we'll play with more adventure than Ireland did. That doesn't mean as many tries will be scored but I can't see either team turning into England like South Africa and New Zealand did.
