"Accident or intent there’s no chance a citing officer would ban him."

"McCaw’s arm seemed to smash into Louw’s face"

Is it just me or does this smack of the English press attempting to influence the citing commissioners?

I'm just so happy the Boks didn't win with a dour game that was built around accumulating penalties while never looking like crossing the line.

IMO that is a classic example of why penalties should be reduced in value.

So is that the end of Meyer and/ or the obsession, under multiple coaches, with one-off forward runners & midfield bombs? It was a shit game plan even when it was winning games away back in 2007-09, now it's not working (& hasn't for some time now) I'd like to see less of that & more of what their U20's & Lions have been putting out there.

Defenders beaten:

NZ: 20
SA: 3
thats right. SA managed to beat 3 defenders in the whole 80 minutes. All 3 were line breaks though.

Get that fucking shit out of here.

Hello, Morne Steyn called and he wants his rotting garbage from 2007 back.

AB's won't dare say so in public - they'll try and be all diplomatic and all - "we don't mind who we play we just need to take care of our own business, media wank speak etc etc" but of course they will be praying like fuck for the Argies in the final.

83% less chance of getting tipped over vs them iHomo.

AB's know once the inevitable choke mist sets in if it gets tight in the final they just need to go through their patterns and they can get home on muscle memory alone vs Arg but, of course, they would never ever say such a thing aloud.
Just got back from a "fishing trip".
Let's be honest and call it for what it really is.

A trip to the supermarket.

Good effort ABs. Two tries to nil, "deserved" win. :)

Saffas carrying too many over the hill players and couldn't match the ABs. FdP is now a one trick pony - box kicks are still the best in the game, always contestable, but doesn't offer anything else and in fact is so slow at the back of the ruck now that he was caught on at least four occasions before he could unload a pass to supports. Schalk still tries hard and doesn't stop, but gives away too many penalties and does not win any of the contacts now, just as likely to be pushed backwards. Habana is still one of the best kick chasers, but I believe he now gets involved in too much niggle and indiscretions because he is no longer the attacking weapon he once was. And I don't think Victor holds too many concerns for opposition side atm, certainly not for Whitelock.

ABs also carrying one or two questionable pensioners. Conrad is a shadow of his former self. Must be some better 13s going around for NZ now. Others like McCaw, Methuselah Mealamu and Read are not as good as they once were also, but still playing at a level good enough for test football. Dan the Man has certainly come back to near his best and is a major influence on the ABs' game. But how good must it be to play 10 with Nonu outside?

I sincerely hope the Wallabies can best the Argies tonight and front up against the ABs next week playing a more attacking style than the Saffas.

All Blacks played a very smart game today knowing that the Springboks would have good defence on the line. Carter was getting the ball well behind the line but he was probing for weaknesses particularly in the younger midfield. His depth was basically inviting the Boks to run out of the line and let the ball do the work against a disjointed defence.

Boks sat on their heels in defence, partly due to fitness. But their discipline was pretty good, willing to sacrifice a couple of yards at the line rather than risk having it broken altogether.

The problem on attack with the Springboks is they have a fly half who will only touch the ball between 25-30% of times as it emerges from the ruck. You cannot possibly expect anything like a game plan to form beyond kicking the cover off the thing. They might be good in a couple of years - with better coaching - but the 10-12-13 combo for the Boks wasn't ready for the experience and cohesion of the ABs.

FdP was also a bit slow on the service front I thought, and where were the big units trundling around the corner off subsequent rucks? Think Meyer misread that game completely.

That it was so close says volumes about the pressure.

Pressure under which JPP cracked when it came to the second try - should have stayed out on BB but the threat of Nonu breaking a tackle stuck him in no-mans land. Lack of trust. Ironic that it was very similar to the Cuthbert incident off the scrum a week before.

I made some remarks about the lineouts which Bones has taken some issues with - the context in which I made those remarks was that the ABs lost Whitelock. Victor definitely steadied the ball retention there, but the throws were the problem: short every time from Bismarck when stolen.

The one stolen from Strauss under Victor's nose was a good read by Whitelock - Boks needed back ball inside the AB half and Victor called himself. Not that bright really. Should have put himself at 4, Etzebeth 2, which would pull Whitelock to the front, and gone from there. Or, as the Scots should have: 2 ball in wet conditions, take it from there.

I mean, they spent so much time putting the ball in the air, surely a good box kick with a chase into the 22 suited their game plan better?

There is no complacency in the All Black squad, but today would have been a reminder that any game can be close and you need perseverance and trust. Whoever the opponent is next week, I expect Carter to attack the line a hell of a lot more, and a far bigger margin of victory for the first ever RWC title defence.

Is it just me, or are de Allende & Kriel seemingly incapable/unwilling to pass the ball? Both of them clearly have talent but this team would be a lot better if they had more ball players than just Pollard and de Villiers.

Exactly. Stop blaming individual SA players. There were three older players in the 23 last night. It's not the players. It's the plan.

The blame lies with the coach and the game plan. Fourie du Preez has more to offer than playing territory but it is very clear what the instructions are.

Again. It's not the players.
They are coached to play like this. Week in, week out. It is very plain to see. They dare not pass.Theee is NOTHING wrong with de Allende's passing. His real strength is the offload. He has not tried it ONCE against Wales or last night.

I'm starting to annoy myself now. I'm out. See you guys next year for Super Rugby. Go Wallabies.

Hey Blue, I agree the game plan is primarily at fault, but in respect of your comment about du Preez having a lot more to offer, how would you explain the four or five occasions he was caught with the ball at the back of a ruck. Just getting much too slow in his play to my eye.

I reckon McCaw does it on purpose. But he is such a sneaky bastard it looks like an accident.

A guy of McCaw's coordination doesn't 'accidentally' elbow another bloke that is essentially still in the head. If he wanted to he would have missed him.

Won't get suspended of course though.

Lol you feel an idiot now we have all seen he didn't actually touch him with an elbow Scotty??

Le Roux was acting as the second ball player at the start and it was quiet effective a few times.

There are much worse things I've done than that to worry me about 'feeling like and idiot'

To an extent my view stands. If he wanted to avoid contact he would have.
