Horrible news. I thought Lilo would be the one to go... who is stuggling a bit with form, finding it hard to crack to wallabies and is closer to the end of his career then To'omua who seems to be peaking now.

Sad news to read Brumby Matt To'omua is leaving the after 2016 season...

I can understand his excitement about embracing a new adventure... I wish him the best... The Brumbies continue to develop a lot of top rugby talent which is playing in top clubs throughout the world...

There is a lot of talent at the Brumbies now, time to develop this guys. I wonder now if Leo will be staying

Seems to be a slightly strange decision for both parties to sign a contract so far in advance. What if To'omua does his ACL and his value plummets? What if he has a great year, starts every Test for the Wallabies and helps to win back the Bledisloe, and he changes his mind about leaving? Hmm...

Lilo is being chased by two Japanese clubs and will also depart at the end of his Brumbies contract which I believe ends in 2016, both will return prior to the 2019 RWC however big losses for the Brumbies and Aus Rugby.

I think Lilo will be past it by the time RWC 2019 comes around. To'omua should still be around but who know's what his form would be like after 3 years in the NH. Gits and Mitchell I think were exceptions and I doubt he will return a better player, his frequent concussions are also a worry. I predicted the next 2-3 years for To'omua would be his highlight years.. but now he's buggering off.

Horrible timing in my opinion. No hate for To'omua though, who seems like a top bloke who is just doing what he feels is best. But in terms of player performance, I think he's leaving at the worst time for the Brumbies and Wallabies.

I would only be surprised if he wasn't being chased by many OS clubs... It really confirms the Brumbies professional player development is highly valued & respected throughout the rugby world... With the recent success of the super rugby nations at the last RWC I would expect this interest to only grow...

Correct, the Brumbies window for another Super Rugby title though is closing over the next couple of seasons. A lot of top players moving on will allow the next crop to come through but will defiantly be tough to replace the likes of Mogg, To'omua, Lilo, Moore, Alexander, White etc

I expect there will be lot of turnover in the next year or two, and generally they will be hard to replace.

As much as I do admire Nic White, I think we have a good replacement in Cubelli and the future in Powell and Dowsett looks good.

Ben Alexander currently heads a very strong THP contingent. After Ben is Ruan Smith (who could be a dark horse for higher honours if eligible), Les Leulua'lall'l-Makin and Tyrell Lomax. Will be all good.

Harder to replace To'omua, Moore, Lealiifano and Mogg, although Toua looks a good prospect at 15 if he can stay uninjured.

Besides, that wasn't my point. If you were an 18 year old, you would sign on with whoever would give you a serious contract. I was more curious about why the Brumbies signed him so young instead of waiting a year or two and then looking to sign him. Maybe because you need a option ready for the 2017 season?

I think the signing of Andrew Smith sows up the To'omua/Lilo for at least one season. Would maybe give some time for someone like Ah Wong or Iona to warm into that spot
