barbarian - if Beale and To'omua are fit does Kerevi make the squad let alone the 23? An interesting one to consider.

Definitely, as he's the 13 cover..........

If past selections are any guide To'omua starts and Beale comes from the bench covering 12 and 15.

I'm not so sure........

Remember Beale came on for Giteau early in the RWC Final instead of To'omua, and Beale has been in great form this year.

Yeah agree with Slim that Beale starts at 12 if fit. But it's all hypothetical.

I heard To'omua has joined the squad. He could be a potential starter by the time the Rugby Championship come along.

That would a hard choice between Lilo and To'omua.

But it just seems a little crazy trying to squeeze him into a 23 with Hooper and Pocock. He will not let anyone down but I can't help thinking a more traditional 8 would be the ticket to balance out the bench. He is not really an on the baller but more of a up the middle runner who tackles like a madman and really gets stuck in. It will be a big test for him on Saturday against a big robust English pack.

So he's like a Springbok flanker, but smaller?

Cheika has seemed like a genuinely big fan of Kerevi's work over the last two seasons. I am not so sure he will disappear from the side quickly.

I just spotted Eddie Jones at a cafe next to my work, so I toddled down to strike up a brief conversation about the test tomorrow night. Key take away was that if the English team is ahead within the first 5 - 10 minutes, he is confident that they will be able to capitalise on the early momentum. The body language within the team, was positive, in short they are definitely up for the game.
Did he say anything about what if they are behind in the first 5 - 10 minutes? If they are not up for this game then they should go home now.
I think it will be a close one,but really looking forward to it.

I don't think it'll be close. They're at the end of a long season that began with the World Cup, although they did have a good long rest during that. Their minds will be on lard butties and clubbing in Skegness. The last time we played them we rooted their scrum like a roo with a prosthetic penis, on our way to scoring 33 points and knocking them out of their own tournament. Now they're on our turf: not just in Australia but in Queensland, the epicenter of all that is harsh and ambiguous in our gimlet-eyed nation. Wobs by 25.

Holloway and Houston are two out and out 8s that may come into the reckoning very soon. Cheika does not seem to have much inclination towards the former.

People say that but Cheika invested two years in developing him behind Palu. He'll be a Wallaby sooner rather than later. Probably EOYT.

We should bear in mind that Cheika's careful handling of Holloway might have actually added to his potential. If Cheika thinks he's not ready that suggests he's not physically ready, since he clearly has the playing ability.

Great for Kerevi.

Think he lacks genuine ball skills and down a bit on ball security.

BUT once he's got the ball in hand he becomes a train wreck for opposition.

His lateral defence is also a worry but I think Hooper will be covering behind Kerevi to alleviate the potential problem.

Guy can be a game winner.

Go the Wallabies

I think Horne will still defend in the 12 channel. Foley will drop back and kerevi will defend as ten. But kerevi might drop back sometimes and be used to return kicks, I think the Reds use him a lot like that.
