I was impressed with his(Leroy's) first game against NSW Country, thought he played very good, made a lot of meters and broke plenty of tackles... and he won't be staying in Bath, he is only on a short term contract until November and he is contracted to QLD for 2017

After watching this weekends NRC game, I think Mason has taken over McIntyre as QLD's next 5/8.. Mason ran onto the ball, took the ball to the line and mixed up his passing, all things McIntyre didn't do.

with Poey and McCalman out could Leroy be a injury cover option for 8? obviously McMahon will get the starting 8 position but Leroy wouldnt be the worst option

Wouldn't be surprised to see him brought in for the November series, but doubt he would be called back for the Rugby Championship given he just flew out to England..

It's only 6 weeks anyway, which is through to either the 3rd Bledisloe or the week after. He'll probably drive over to Cardiff and join the team for training before the first of the Tests, not much more than an hour between the two.

Poey isn't coming on the Spring Tour. Leroy is already in England. Let him meet the team and train before the Argie game at twickers, then hang out over there before joining the squad in November

Mccalamn isn't out anymore.

So with a Mumm/Fardy @ 6
Timani/Mccalamn @ 8
Hooper/ Mcmahon @ 7....................or there abouts, I can't see a spot for leroy, though personally I'd like to see him there.

Great buy for the Reds, though it's a shame we couldn't afford Higs.

Here is a question. Considering we already have to solid backrow runners in Timu & Tui, in addition to Korczyke, Smith & Gunn, would you rather Higs OR Houston round out the backrow?

It was a hypothetical question Scrubber

I've watched some of Higgers recent performances in Japan, and he just looks like he is happy to be earning his pension and have a bit of fun by just throwing the ball around, conversely Houston was playing in a first rate Comp and putting in very good performances..

I still think many will be impressed with Timu once he gets fit healthy and a few games under his belt.

Do you know anything about his recovery/when he is expected to return? His return game for Sunnybank earlier this year was eye-catching, to say the least.

Can't wait to see what he can do next season.

Bit of late news for you to catch up on:

Gill is playing in France

Higgers is playing in Japan. What is the difference in a hypothetical situation between Gill and Higgers?

Feels good typing in bold so I'm going to run with it.

From what I've heard it would seem Gill is the more likely to return to the Reds. Did the Reds even approach Higgers for next year or was it more a case of wishful thinking on behalf of the fans who occasionally brought his name up?

Haha I'll help you out:
One starts with "G" and the other "H"

My understanding is that Higgers would have approached the Reds not the other way round. The backrow roster is chockers.

Would love to have them both but I fear we will not see Gilly back in Australia for several years if at all.

The simple fact is that he will be sensational in France, earn a shitload of cash and the door (rightfully or wrongly) is pretty tightly closed for him at Wallaby level with Messers Hooper, Pocock, McMahon and any other young Gunns that pop up in the next few years.

Ok Scrubber. I'm not so sure the differences between the two scenarios are so great but can see where you are coming from.

Pocock is a great player but will come back at around age 30 and need to get back into the program after 16 months out. McMahon will surely now get a run at 8 after his last two performances so I don't really see him as competing with Gill for the same Wallabies spot in the longer term. Cheika was reticent to let Gill go this year and does seem like a genuine fan. Lot's can change in two years and should Gill return his play in the tight stuff compliments McMahon or even Holloway at 8 a lot more than Hooper does. He is also a better lineout option than any other 7 in the country.

I'd say his Wallabies chances are greater than Higgers but as both are ineligible for at least a couple of years, let's see what the scene looks like if either ever returns. However, I'm a lot more optimistic about Gills return than you are.

NATIONAL NEWSFLASH

ALPHABET HITS QUEENSLAND. After decades communicating through grunts and punches directed to various parts of the body (punch to the head: wake up, punch to the groin: I don't like you, etc.) Queenslanders are trying the new written communication method. It's testing most of them, to ease them in authorities are releasing two letters at a time; G and H are presenting some difficulties, slow and easy as it goes.

It was a hypothetical question between Higs and Houston as they were both available options for the same position. Gill was not an available option.
