Think the squad could be close to:

Smith
Warner
Renshaw
Khawaja
Maddinson
Handscomb
Wade
Starc
Hazlewood
Sayers
Lyon
Bird

Vics up over New Shit Wales by 198 runs.

The four test incumbents impressed with:
Warner 11 & 22
Smithy 8 & 16, 1/50 and DNB
Nevill 26 & 4
Lyon 5 & 8, 0/141 and 0/32

Outstanding work against a powerful bowling trio of Chris Tremain, Scott Boland and Jon Holland, supported by all rounders Glenn Maxwell, Dan Christian and Marcus Stoinis.

If the Captain, Vice Captain, and Wicketkeeper of the national side can't stand up against a Victoria missing its two best bowlers, there's something very wrong.

Derrrr I'm an Australian Cricket Selector

I'm dumping half my team, because they're flakey, and aggressive and out of form, so they keep on collapsing.

I'll select Maddinson and Wade, it's not as if they fulfill any of that criteria!

Durrrrrrrrrr

Australian squad: David Warner, Matt Renshaw, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith (c), Peter Handscomb, Nic Maddinson, Matthew Wade, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Jackson Bird, Chadd Sayers.

Six changes seems a little OTT, series is lost so why not give Burns & Ferguson a chance to redeem themselves?

Burns? Last Seven first Class scores are 30, 4, 7, 1, 0, 4, 2. That's why.

With Maddinson getting a run I would have preferred for Ferguson to get another shot, but it should have been Patterson in the first place.

Mennie being told he can't play in the Shield game but then being dropped is a bit of a disgrace as well.

Everyone listening to ABC Grandstand had the same team. Funny that so soon after Peter Lalor having discussed his reliable gen you post;)

Could definitely argue that Mennie and Ferguson are unlucky.

Maddinson is still a pure wishful thinking prospect. Averaged 30.5 last season in the shield.

3 & 29 v Sri Lanka 1st test
0 & 2 v Sri Lanka 2nd Test

Matador Cup
42 v CA XI
31 v Tasmania
78 v WA
20 v South Australia
11 v NSW
17 v Victoria
18 v NSW (Final)

Sheffield Shield
129 & 30 v NSW
4 & 7 v Victoria

0 & 1 v South Africa 2nd Test

Sheffield Shield
4 & 2 v South Australia

Not pretty figures at all (have included Matador Cup because player still seem to get selected based on it for some dumb reason).

With no not outs, I count the long form average as 17.58, the Short form average as 31, and the overall average as 22.53. Removing the Test and the just played shield game still gives averages of 25.5 and 28.07 for long form and overall average. Not figures which suggest Open against the best away team in Cricket.

Can't argue too much with the blokes selected to come in, even Wade. They've picked the blokes in the best form and I hope they're given the rest of the summer to prove themselves.

Better squad but still a few cracks. Maddinson is a weird one, Ferguson abit unlucky to only get one test. Lyon probably fortunate SO'K wasn't fit.

Renshaw is a great prospect and in good form. Hopefully he can get amongst the runs to keep the pressure on S Marsh.

Only question now is Bird or Sayers?

Hope Bird is given another chance. He is in form and was next in line in Hobart. And 4 debutants would just be silly.

Sayers is producing better atm, so I would go with him

The high turnover due to woeful form of batsmen surely shines the spotlight on the batting coach. Hick'll have to engineer a much better batting performance over the remainder of the summer or bugger off.
