Sunwolves to play occasionally electric, but often chaotic rugby. But then again, what's news.

I still think Shatz should be converted to a LH lock.

Same weight as Luke Jones, and realistically the same height as Fifita of the Canes (there's some very questionable height stats online though).

actually schatz is 6ft 2.and jones and fifita are over 6ft 5. Not tall locks but also Jones is a shredded 110+kg

Mate, I literally just said that I doubt the heights that're online.

But if you're going to take that tact why is take Schatz an inch shorter than his online height but Fifita is bang on?

It's a creative take on stats, that they're only correct when they support your point.

How many casuals in SEQ do you think are going to buy 2 day festival tickets to a new rugby tournament using relatively obscure rules, that aren't already Reds/Super Rugby fans?

It's not about people paying for a 2 day pass, it's about very casual fans probably more interested in watching Rugby League, sitting on their couch on a Saturday and Sunday flicking between the fox sports, BeIn and ESPN channels thinking, what on earth am i going to watch? There is no League, no Cricket, i can't stand soccer (not my personal opinion), in general there is nothing on offer.... i might as well watch this. These people are the new fans that can be attracted, the ones just happy to get their 'contact' sport fix, all this while supplying a content for your current target market to feel engaged with their teams. Something which Rugby does very poorly in this country with its limited domestic season and stop start nature of the competition.

If these people have that much time, they need a hobby.

I suggest rugby. ;)

wow. tone it done.

Because they rounded.

It is my opinion converting Jake Schatz to a 2nd Rower is the most confrontational thing I've read today

hey I don't go around saying I'm 6 ft when I'm actually 5ft 11.5, I say I'm 5ft 11, coz saying I'm 6ft would be wrong and being any more precise would be weird. Unless I'm wearing RM's, then I would be 6ft.

Let's move on.

Amirite, what's your thoughts?
I'm on the Higs @ 6 and Houston @ 8 Team.

I think Higs has the lineout support Simmons needed, and Houston has the pure mass the no.8 jersey has been missing. Yes Tui runs hard lines but still I think didn't quite have the impact in at the coal face. I would use his versatility and speed off the bench where I think he would offer more then Houston off the bench.

Well I think Schatz should be a 6. ;)

He's definitely on the short side for a lock, although Dave Dennis is not much taller (192 vs 190 according to the maligned google figures) and he has played at lock. Admittedly in a pretty terrible Tahs lineout!

But I always thought Schatz was more of a 6 as he's decent over the ball and a genuine lineout option (which is what I look for in my 6s) but lacks the damaging impact of a true 8.

I do hope he proves to be another of the (too many) Reds players who show initial promise, stagnate, then leave and suddenly develop into top class players (I hope CFS gets the chance too!).

The Rebs are pretty well stocked in back rowers though, even with McMahon out they've still got Reid, Fainga'a and Timani, as well as some decent young guys coming through. Will be interesting to see how Schatz goes in that company.

Everyone fully cool with Hunt playing exclusively 15 this year?

I've always had the nagging feeling that he would be better at 12, and time at 15 was more to learn the game (as Folau did). That said, it's most important that he play/train in 1 position I think.

He pretty much has to play at 15 now, we've lost most of our alternate fullbacks from last season. Ironically the second most experienced 15 in the side now is probably Quade after his time at Toulon!

He did develop into a good 12 too by the time he got injured, but we're well covered at 12. We have Paia'aua, Taefu and even Kerevi who can play 12 (with Perese and Magnay to cover 13) so I get the feeling he's locked in at 15. The issue is going to be who replaces him if he gets injured.

Also agree that playing and training for one position is always preferable, to build the combinations and that intuitive understanding that can make a big difference at this level. The old adage about a team of champions vs a champion team...

I've always liked Karmichael at 15 and think he has a lot of potential to really play that role well, trouble is getting him to string a couple of games together.

Brumbies poached the other fullback option; Tom Banks. Besides that, maybe Ngamanu

Karmichael definitely 15 although there is talk that Maranta is 15 cover.

Not knowing enough about him I'd probably prefer Paia'aua there.

Although ..... part of me still likes QC (Quade Cooper) at 15 with Dunc or, dare I say it, Jake at 10.
