Did anyone else get annoyed with how casually Hunt kicks for touch on penalties? I mean c'mon, yes you need to ensure that ball goes out, considering he's using a dead straight AFL technique, surely he could chew off a few more meters to allow Kerevi a better chance of crashing over.

Mark Gerrard was the best with his low sweeping kicks off the right boot to left corners, do we have a left footer who can kick for right corners?

I was really surprised by this. I know in previous years we have been killed by not finding touch, but to only gain 5-15m on a penalty is just as bad.

Low risk reward kicking 10m for a lineout vs taking a tap.

It's not surprising though as we have lamented the poor kicking for years and the organisation don't do anything about it. Meanwhile premier clubs have specialised professional kicking coaches on the books.

Genia's knee is apparently well and truly fucked. His body will prevent him from ever being the player he was previously. Would not be a good signing

Has he re-injured since he last played for the Wallabies? He was still streets ahead of every other halfback in Australia about 4 months ago..

He's definitely not a leadership signing but unless his condition has deteriorated rapidly in the last 4 months someone is going to pick him up. I'd want to see a lot more of Tuttle at this level before Reds make any decision, though - unfortunately the more I see of Frisby the less he looks up to starting in Super Rugby every week.

Does anyone here have any idea how Stiles runs his opposed training sessions? If he does a lot of 1st v 2nds then based on the recent Reds Facebook photos it looks like Frisby/Douglas/Smith/Moore are in the 2nds and Tuttle/Lukhan are in the 1sts.

Moore has already been put to the bench to allow for greater punch later in the game, wouldn't be surprised if there was a couple other moves like that. However, you don't run every training run with the run on XV. Photos were also of Mcintyre in 1sts. Could just be them getting a chance to work on combinations and systems for when they come off the bench.

McIntrye doesn't have a blue bib on in any of the recent opposed sessions photo - I actually used him as the confirmation that non-bibbed players were the 2nds after seeing who else was wearing blue.

I'd be surprised to see all of those changes made in the same match but it seems to show the coaches are at least trying to change things up in light of the recent matches. But that session would be their first-to-last if not the last opposed session before the actual match so I'd be really surprised if these weren't very close approximations of the match day lineups barring injury.

Don't read much into it, they often chop and change during training to give players a chance to show their skills, rest players and test combinations when reserves come on..

Based on those photos Talakai, Paia'aua and Higgers would be on the bench, can't see that happening, they've been three of the best.

I'm reading it as the exact opposite (blue bibs are locked for the 23) but yeah it's a yarn to pull on until the actual announcement but not much else.

Is it sacrilegious to suggest that I don't want Genia at the Reds?

I'd prefer we invest in Frisby, Tuttle and Sorovi at the moment with Tuttle being very close to overtaking Frisby.

Genia can go to the Canberra Rebels to mentor Joe Powell when Stirzaker heads overseas.

Yep, I automatically assumed bibs were 2nd in that scenario, but as pointed as - mix a match in training. Yes they would have a run on team run, but they would train for every eventuality in the lead up to the game.

Read earlier that Meehan is heading overseas along with Morohan and Schatz. Canberra Rebels will need Powell & Stirzaker together. I'm going to guess Prior will go overseas like Mckibbin did and Tuttle will end up moving to Force. A wild speculation but man I want Genia.....

I agree re Will Genia 100%.

Irrespective f his potential or real injury concerns I mentioned a year or 2 back that he wasn't particularly good in the "culture" department. Got flogged on here for that view

He was hard to coach, didn't like being "told" what to d and always refused to tae responsibility for HIS fuckups (and there were quite a few). Young blokes in the team copped shit. My only source was a mate who was informed by some players so you can take it or leave it, whatever.

We've taken back Moore, Higgers and particularly Quade who in all fairness and IMO have embraced the culture, and improved it somewhat.

I'm quite happy to move forward with what we have. Too many people live in the past

i remember hearing a story about in the early days with Link at team meetings genia would go to the back of the room and Horwill would be front and centre. Link mentioned it was all those little things that made him choose Horwill over Genia as capt. way back when.

It's a shame that last year he was clearly the best Wallabies 9. Not saying I want him back but I do think he is a better 9 than we currently have.
yeah but from a vfm sense there are other positions we are more lacking in. our back up 9 looks to have potential. our back up 12 doesnt exist and our back up 10 is yet to set the scence a smoulder. genia $$$ could bring gill back (not sure when smith contract ends) or get another senior prop.
