It's never going to help putting on games when it's 0 degrees at kick off and not helpful to try and take young kids etc. I know it's for TV and blah blah blah but these days with other options easily available it makes for an easy choice for the average punter.

At kick off it the official temp was 0.5c . Add in the concrete jungle and its even colder. The walk to the car in -2c is not that much fun either. Real feel was f#*@img freezing!

Add it other factors like a gap of 7 weeks since a home game, the usual poor marketing done by the Brumbies, a scheduled home game for the Raiders tomorrow night, the Brumbies unlikely to win and playing unattractive uninspiring rugby, AND the damage the ARU have done (actively doing) on top of Brumbies burning many supporters with the the backroom bullshite the previous year. So 10K is about what you would expect based on conditions and other factors.

Its not good but the Raiders have shown you can build a crowd is you have a clue what to do. They got a roll on and jumped from 7k average (Brumbies had 12k average in same period) to a 15k average which is holding by using a horn and a clap - even with mixed results.

More inspiring than fog, mountains and horses set to recycled poetry apparently.

Brumbs fans know full well their team didn't deserve to be in the finals on merit. Throw in the other factors and the crowd isn't completely surprising (although still very disappointing).

Going by the crowds everywhere, nobody cares anymore...

The comp needs a serious reboot.

All 5 have dropped in numbers from 10,000-50,000. who is to blame? team, conference, ARU, SANZAAR. take your pick.

Maybe we should stop talking about blame and think a bit more about the underlying causes. Blame solves nothing, causes can sometimes be fixed.

Sometimes being the operative word.

The real question thus is: what plan of excellence is or is not being created to address the looming financial disaster for Australian rugby if these crowd trends continue? (And we know the QRU and NSWRU lie about their crowd numbers so the real commercial position/trend line is worse than it appears.)

Good point, my point was its not a singular problem/blame that can be rectified by 1 solution.

each franchise will have their own things that need fixing, ARU need to do some fixing and SANZAAR need to do some fixing

Your first sentence is a steaming pile of horseshit. I'm sure you wouldn't sit in freezing temperatures (literally) to watch the Reds.

Why not? Particularly if it's not raining. Chuck on a heavy jacket and a beany. And grab a coffee.

Because they're lazy fickle arseholes. I on the other layered up and cheered on the ponies. And there last year against the highlanders as well.

I know the format states the Brumbies got the home ground, but it should have been in New Zealand IMO, bigger crowd and acknowledge the team who finished higher on the ladder

HHHmmmm maybe,

Sometimes to determine what the underlying causes are, you need a management team capable of thinking through the issue. Meaning you can cast blame at the performance of a management team at a subjective level on their performance level, even test key decisions against latter results.

Decision one by current management, move Saturday morning park club games to Sunday morning to avoid clash with GPS schools---------result over 70% drop out of players in this age bracket.

Decision two by current management, to support the move to extra teams to get more money from Japan especially ------------- result is for all to see.

Decision three by current management to cut a team---- well where to start maybe being sued by Rebels, Force and Sad sorry typo SANZAR depending on what decision they make.

Decision four by current management, cough cough cough belly laugh, roll on floor belly laughing, side spiting 72 hour announcement ------- result who knows.

Essentially are the current management team capable or more over do they have the general support of the rugby community that they have, the ability, the courage, the knowledge, the skill to identify the underlying issues and introduce measures to correct.
